[SPOILERS] Bismark of Sumeria (luddite + Atlas1998)

Ok, quick update. I'm working together with plako to plan how this alliance is going to work. As long as we work together, and keep it confidential, I'm confident that we can take down parkin. My biggest worry is that regoarrar might rat us out, or sneak attack while we're busy. Mackoti might also take the opportunity to attack me. I havent talked to him in a while... I should message him and renew our NAP.

Long term, if parkin goes down I doubt I'll be able to keep up with plako and Locke in economy. I'm going to pursue a cultural victory. Nobody else has music yet, so I'll get the sistine chapel easily (starting it next turn). With luck, everyone will be so distracted by the giant war that they won't notice my culture going up. Even if they do notice, I'll have NAP's with most people, and hopefully I can pull it off before they can stop me.

The biggest problem I have now is... which cities should I use? What I'd LIKE to do is use these southern cities. They've got high food, and aren't doing much else. Peacemonger has the national epic, which will really help in artist production. Out of bounds has the SP, and soon the forbidden palace and sistine chapel. Biddy Early could get a lot of food surplus with the lakes and grass farms.

However... they're also quite vulnerable to attack, especially Biddy Early. I'd really prefer not to use cities that are exposed to the southern coast. Instead, these northern cities would be much easier to defend. Kinsale and Lagash would be good possibilites with high food surplus. The capital would also be good, although I'd prefer to have it keep working cottages.

I need to think about this some more. Right now I'm not seeing any good combination of cities that could both pump out lots of culture, and be easy to defend. Murphy's would be ideal, but I want that city to keep producing units. I definitely want peacemonger though- lots of food, and the national epic bonus for artists.

Hmm... maybe Kinsale, Peacemonger, and Lupu (the city that's just north of the screenshot of the southern cities)? those cities would be safe from everyone except Mackoti, and they've all good food surpluses. Guinness would also be really good, I'm just not sure if I can spare taking it away from research.

The other big problem I have, is how do I keep this a secret from everyone else? They're going to be very suspicious if they see me build the Sistine Chapel. I might be able to cover for a while but saying that I need it to fight culture battles with mackoti and parkin (which is somewhat true), but someone is bound to notice if I then spread 4 religions into 3 cities, and start building cathedrals.

I guess the first step is to spread each of those 4 religions into 9 cities, so i can build the necessary temples. That's somewhat plausable, for happiness reasons.

Well this is annoying. Mackoti planted a city right along our border, threatening to steal that village away from me. That also gives him a way to build boats on that lake. Well, little does he suspect that he just planted 3 tiles away from a future legendary city (currently with zero culturelol).

On the plus side, the alliance is going well. We've set up a special forum to discuss plans. Locke will bring redcoats, Nakor will bring galleons with the viking navigation bonus, and gift us berzerkers to upgrade into rifles. Plako has the circumnav bonus, and will build amphibious CKN for doing collateral damage in amphibious attacks (a very clever loophole to the no-amphibious-siege rule). With all those toys, Parkin will be in serious trouble. I think I'm going to focus on just drafting rifles.

Oh, and locke is currently drafting a huge army of maces, which I guess means that Adlain is going down soon.

Will these naval bonuses be stacked?

I believe they would be:
The Viking bonus is a promotion (and so should continue once gifted), whereas the Plako circumnav bonus is a civ trait. Promotions stack with the civ trait normally, so no reason why they'd act any different.

Yes, but that requires plako to be given the ships. I wasn't sure if that was the plan, especially because you can't carry an ally's units on a boat.

We're discussing it. Nakor acknowledges that it would be better to give plako the ships to get the circumnav bonus, but he's also nervous about gifting away all his units to someone else (especially since he might not have any rifles of his own). I think it's OK if he doesn't. 5 move galleon should be enough.

How are you doing on tech? When do you expect to be able to draft rifles?
