Turkey responded with a generic "sounds good" type email - here's Nakor's email as France
Quote:Good to meet you in another environment then Civilization!
So let's not talk about PB4 in these exchanges, OK?
Hope to have enough time to fit in a game of Diplomacy with two little kids at home. Thankfully, summer holiday is approaching fast (I'm a chemistry teacher).
You must be so lucky to play Russia! It was my second choice, after France. You're already one in the lead! ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif)
Well, in my opinion, France - Russia is a great geographical alliance.
First in information sharing and later in actual aid on the map,
Hope to hear if you;re interested in such a deal.
I'll see if I can find out what England intends to do with Norway for you.
Cheers,
Nakor

Here's the email from England
Quote:Regoarrar,
I know we sort of had a mini-chat the other night, but I figure it's about time to send you a formal greetings. This is not a particularly urgent message, as I'm sure you are more concerned about dealing with the powder keg that is the Black Sea and the Balkans. You certainly have more pressing issues than the English, but nevertheless I think it's wise to start laying the groundwork for relations between England and Russia.
The short version is that I'd really like to avoid wasting both of our time by feuding over land and sea in the north. I need to deal with the western theater of England/France/Germany, and you need to deal with Turkey (Black Sea) and the Austria/Turkey section as a whole, as well as keep an eye on Germany. I think if I put pressure on St. Petersburg it'd be a waste of my time, and if you put pressure on the English isles by way of taking the North/Norwegian seas, it'd be a waste of your time. Are you open to some sort of agreement where we basically leave each other alone? We have two of the strongest countries in the game, but the invariable puts bigger targets on both of our backs, so it seems natural for us to agree to give each other space.
I'm open to suggestions, but I figured I'd send this message just to get an idea of what your thoughts were and if you think I'm making sense here . Feel free to hit me on chat anytime if you prefer that over email. Good luck!

But of course we're neighbors and friends too! People always talk about the RT alliance but I'm actually a bigger fan of the RA alliance. We don't have to deal with all that Black Sea tension, and we have the same ability to hit the west hard.
Have you played much diplomacy? I used to play quite a bit but it's been probably 10 years. One thing I remember though is that one of the big keys to the game is finishing up your "triangle" before the other guys. So we're the eastern triangle (quadrangle if you count Italy), and so we need to hit our side hard and finish it up and turn west while EFG are still mucking around. If both sides finish at the same time then it just bogs down into a stalemate.
So what are your thoughts about Galicia?

I just realized that I have no idea who is playing who and anyone could just send me an email pretending to be someone else and I'd probably fall for it.
That's (yet another) reason why I like playing on the judges or some other automated system rather than just using email...

Email to Rowain / Italy
Quote:Hi Rowain,
I totally agree - Russia and Italy are natural allies - after all, we share no border, and border 2 of the same other powers (Austria and Turkey). I think that we both have a pretty vested interest in making sure that there's no A/T alliance, right? :-)
So, I'm good with working with either Austria or Turkey at this point (having only gotten just introductory emails from both). What are your thoughts on either of those guys? We need to hurry up and finish up the east so that we can both turn our attention west while EFG are still figuring things out. If you can start sending fleets into the West Med while France is still trying to deal with Burgundy or the English Channel, it's a huge advantage (as you probably already know)
Anyway hope to hear from you soon!

Email to England / scooter
Quote:Hi Scooter,
I've got good news and bad news with regard to the fact that I choose my allies based on the order in which they email me. On the one hand, your email was the very last one we receieved. On the other hand, we DID have that chat the other day. So I can't decide if you're first or last.... ;-)
I agree that you and I have much better things to deal with than mucking around in Scandinavia. I plan to set sail for Sweden this fall and hope that Germany will allow me in. Any influence you have in that regard would be appreciated. I have no plans to take either the Nth or Nwg seas, and I appreciate your willingness not to sail to the Barents or towards Stp.
Do you think that you'll take Norway with a fleet or army? If you're asking for opinions, I'd prefer with the fleet, and if you think I could be any use in getting France or Germany to support your army to Belgium, just let me know!
Talk to you soon

Email to France
Quote:Hi Nakor,
Good to hear from you and I don't plan on talking about PB4 in here :-)
I picked France and Russia equally as my 1st choice so I'm happy with either one. The fact that you also rate France and Russia high indicates that you pknow what you're doing so that makes me want to work with you! Plus France and Russia are natural allies as you mentioned. Have you played much diplomacy? I used to play a lot but that was like 10 years ago.
Do you have any ideas if you are leaning towards working with England or Germany at this point? Obviously both of us want to do everything we can do to avoid an E/G alliance, right!?!
Anyways hope to hear from you soon

Initial email to Germany
Quote:Hi there,
Do I have the right folks for Germany? This is Tsar regoarrarr of Russia over here. I'm still trying to get a hold of how to do diplo here. I used to play Diplomacy quite a bit but that was like 10 or so years ago and while it was over email, it was via automated judge software which was slightly different. Have either of you played Diplomacy before?
Have you heard much from England or France? I think I have now gotten emails from everyone so hopefully we should get things rolling here.
So, I'd like to propose Bal / Pru / Sil as a DMZ. I don't think either of us have any interest in moving there in the early going, right? The other thing that Russia and Germany seem to often discuss is Sweden, right? I plan to sail my northern fleet that way (where else can it go?) and would appreciate your not bouncing me there in the fall. Would that be okay?
Anyways I hope to hear from you soon - we're neighbors geographically speaking but we both have other fronts we need to deal with more but let's keep in touch!
