Pessimism is my natural state. And events frequently turn out even worse than I expect. frown

Zed-F Wrote:Consuming an entire empire takes time! We will lose Izakis for certain. Baymu should be next on the Locusts' hit list, and Miirio after that. We won't be able to do much once it gets to Miirio since that's where the Morrigi monitor is. But if we put everything we can into defending Baymu before the locusts arrive, we might be able to save it. We would need to pretty much do nothing but build cruisers and send them to Baymu, and try a deep space intercept battle first, but we could do it.

The fleet/world will not repair except if it munches a planet with resources. But what about the swarmers? I assume they are fully regenerated every round, similar to a Silicoid swarm?

Zed-F Wrote:If you're really not feeling up to that challenge, though, you can always ask for a swap.

I think it would be better for someone else to handle this menace. I am not going to have enough time to play a turnset until at least Monday anyway, so a swap or skip is probably the best option.

I just want to say that this (and the first one) has made extremely engrossing reading, and I rather regret not having snapped up the complete edition when it was on sale for $5 on Impulse this past weekend.

Also, good luck with the Locusts. smile

Mardoc just played a pretty gruelling turnset, and he said he wouldn't have time tomorrow, so I'll assume he's out. Tyrmith, would you rather take on the Locusts, or shall I?

If I play I may take a few extra turns in order to handle the Baymu defense when the locusts arrive.

That's correct, tomorrow I'm playing a massive game of Warhammer 40K, it'll probably go 12 hours and I certainly won't be in a mood for tactics after that's over! Plus, well, it would be very silly for me to take 20-25 turns in a row here smile.

Thanks for the positive thoughts, Ranamar. smile

Despite my bouts of pessimism lol, SotS is a very fun game and I am glad I picked it up after reading the first SG here at RB. Keep an eye on the various sites, and you will probably see the complete edition on sale again sometime soon. With SotS 2 coming out, I expect they are trying to build interest.

I have time tomorrow, but I'd really rather you took them on Zed-F, I really lack confidence in my skills, and this is a rather important turnset. wink

I'll second Tyrmith -- go for it, Zed-F! Take extra turns if you need them for the Baymu battle.

Facing a grand menace while still in the Fission era seems like a good time to have our most experienced player at the controls. smile

Ok, I will probably start the ball rolling in the morning then. I may need some time to figure how this is going to go down and I'm not sure we have enough time to build enough ships to stop the locusts at just 1 planet consumed. But it is certainly worth a shot!

Please post a pre-battle save, win or lose. I'd like a chance to see the locusts in action smile.
