If we plant on the plains 1S of the cow, we do actually deny anyone the ability to get that fish. That would also be reachable from one turn after landing on the grass. Wait... no... looking at that map again, I forgot we'd have to walk one tile farther than I'd thought...

On the other hand, the food for any city around there is going to be pretty bad, no matter how we slice it, as I recall us discussing.

Actually, if we plant on the forest, we get the same effect, because that hill is an illegal city position. It'd cost us a turn in actually getting the city down, of course.

I personally want to steal the spices from yuris, because, as far as we know, it's his only access to them. (Yeah, I know, he needs Iron Working and stuff... but still...) On the other hand, if we actually think we'd be getting a great artist soon, that corner plant would be excellent for culturebombing one of Yuris's cities. I'm less than convinced we can do that before he's gotten sufficient culture into those cities, though.

So, my vote is either for putting it on the rice because it will be faster and give a way across the land bridge or putting it on the plains because it adds another food to the total food we can get and grabs us the most open space. I'm leaning towards on the rice because the advantages of the other one aren't really that great, because it overlaps a bunch with Yuris's cities, and any culture fight we get into will be, ultimately, pretty useless. (Also, seeing as he's got a religion, he can bring more culture buildings to bear, if he wants to...) Actually, I guess on the forest isn't that bad, as a compromise that denies the fish and doesn't fight as much over tiles. Then we'd need to go work the rice with a citizen still, which, when we're happy capped, isn't that great a proposition. (I guess we'll be raising the happy cap soon, though.)

I agree with the rice as the best bet, and propose that's where the settler disembark as long as the barb is out of range or dead.

Quote:Hi Seven,

We would be very interested in trading ivory for stone. However, 30t
sounds very long to me, that's 10% of the game on quick! And if you
don't have Math yet, it would be difficult for you to compete with us
- we already have the required techs

Would you be willing to reduce the terms to a 2:1 trade, i.e. 20t
ivory for 10t stone, or 30t ivory for 15t stone? Also, if the deal is
agreed, how soon would you be able to provide stone to us?

Forgot to post that earlier.

You're going to build the Statue of Zeus?

Have you seen how happy-starved our end of the map is?

Things that happened this turn:

MNG built Hanging Gardens. lol
We built TOA.
We got calendar.
We got a Great Prophet.
The barb warrior moved towards Yuris so I let him go.
The settler disembarked on the rice.

There are 4 workers by the incense so use them to plantation that sucker.

Since we're going to settle the GP I was thinking, Rep would absolutely kill with all the specialists we have in BD. Pyramids anyone?

Temporary happiness strikes me as eh, not that useful. SoZ could be useful considering you're settling in yuris's face though. Probably more useful than the ToA. :neenernee

Hahaha, funny that it would be Yuris's Ivory we would use to build Zeus. We should probably try to get a deal from Yuris before we actually settle. Yes? We won't be able to give him the stone for another few turns anyway since we don't have masonry yet. bang

Well, it looks like we might not get the ivory anyway, if we settle in his face...

Quote:Hi guys,

As you probably already know, MNG completed Hanging Gardens this turn.
While this makes stone less valuable for us, we would like to
re-affirm our interest to borrow your stone for 10t in exchange for a
20t loan of ivory. However, there is one more clause I would like to
add: I ask you to promise not to settle the land on our side of the
landbridge between our empires. I'm sure you will agree that the
landbridge is a natural border between us, and with the good relations
we had so far, I wouldn't think you have an intention to cross the
landbridge and steal our land. But to be on the safe side, I would
like to make it official

So, here is the offer:

1. The Radioland empire provides the RL7 empire with ivory from T65 to T84
2. The RL7 empire provides the Radioland empire with stone for 10
turns, starting no later than on T75
3. The RL7 empire promises not to settle any cities to the west of the
tile 3E of the jungled rice resource on the Radioland side of the
landbridge, as long as there is an active NAP between our empires

Let me know if this works for you

I already settled the settler.

Sorry Yuris.

Additional notes, the plantation will be done next turn. Move the galley into the city. There should be an extra worker once the plantation completes he should go N 1 and help the other worker finish a cottage. Then next turn 1 of those workers hops on the boat as it sets back to the new city.

Also settled the Great Prophet. Started Iron Working. Set Tech to 0%. +30 gpt!
