Let's see what's going on then. Sciz (Austria) was eliminated when: I captured Greece, Gaspar captured Serbia and TT captured Vienna. Bye bye Sciz, can't say I'd miss you! But if you do ever read this, I just want to let you know that it was nothing personal. Had TT's attack failed in the north or your moves be less threatening to me, I really would have been open to working together.
Anyway. Russia is getting awfully large. Honestly, I need him more than he needs me atm. But I still think that working with him is best for both him and myself. This might be the road to second place, but that's certainly better than 6th. But don't worry, I'm not gonna vassalize or anything, if I do get a chance later down the road to win, I'll take it. Just right now it's pretty impossible for me to succeed without Russia, afterall there's no trusting TT and he has completely deserted me. A silly strategy to be honest, but it's something I expected from him. I'm not really mad about the stab, I'd be a hypocrit if I was, but it's just plain stupid not trying to even reach me after a stab. Well, unless he's allied with Russia already, or thinking he is, and is planning to take me down next. If that's the case, not much I can do more than what I'm already doing!

Thank you for continuing to make substantive posts so we at least know what you're thinking about. It's been a tad difficult following this game recently, because not everyone is doing so.

Okay so I talked to Gaspar. He's still on board the anti-IG movement. I suggested to DMZ The Black Sea so I can get that fleet workin. Thing is, if Russia stabs me, I'm fucked either way, with BLA or without. Right now is a good moment for him to stab me since he's still on the good side of TT. The DMZ should buy me some extra trust in order to make sure he's on my side. I'd give it about 80:20 odds that he won't stab. I wish I didn't have to commit this much to Russia, but I never really had another option. Austria was toast even without me and TT obviously won't ally with me. In case someone doesn't know the story, I called him out on one of our Civ PBEM's. Turned out I was right about it all, but the response I got was a really hostile message full of lies. Doubt he's still over that. Anyway, Gaspar will talk to TT and see if he can set up TT for a stab by us. Well, by him I'd guess, since TT is pretty much openly hostile with me already and technically stabbed me, if you can call it that.
Also had an interesting chat with Commodore. He was pretty convincing in arguing that he's not very close with TT, but the thing is that TT already blurted out lots of stuff, like how they even planned out together what to say to Sciz in order to confuse him. Who says that's not the case here? Anyway, it's still good to keep that option open, it's not like there's any bad blood between myself and Commodore yet. One possibility I threw out was an attack on TT by the two of us and Russia, backed up by the fact that next on Russia's radar is either me, him or TT. Who knows, maybe it'll work out. But maybe it's better that there is IG for now, just so Gaspar can't roll over me since he doesn't have anything to fear west.

Well, this is bad. 1 hour 15 minutes until the deadline and Gaspar hasn't been online yet today. I'm thinking I should support Greece with Bulgaria just in case. The biggest problem is BLA. If I break the DMZ and take it, I'll take a huge relations hit. If I honor the DMZ and he takes it, I'm that much more in trouble. Both cases, I lose. I guess I should honor it and hope he's just busy, not stabbing.

Caught up with Gaspar an hour after the deadline. One thing I realised at that point was TT's convoy. I had sent an attack on the fleet that convoys the unit, but that's not enough to break the convoy. So yeah, that's a clear mistake by me. Also Gaspar didn't get Trieste. But this was still a good turn for me TBH. I didn't get stabbed, DMZ worked and Gaspar managed to get Bob to attack Italy, atleast so far - hopefully Bob won't be mad over the events in the north. TT is scrambling now, even shot me up a quick email about teaming up against Gaspar. Yeah, right.

As you might know, not much diplo going on. Everyone's busy. So this is the perfect time to make some gains for Turkey! I made a bit risky (to Gaspar) plan to attack TT. I'd say there's better odds he goes with it since we probably won't have time to bounce ideas like normally. I'll be gaining some ground this fall.

A bit offtopic, but would it be wrong to hand-pick who to let join a game in the future? It seems like almost every game, civ or not, ends up being abandoned. I do understand if you have something important and have to drop out, but everyone's already very inactive only a few weeks in and without any apparent reason. It's annoying to invest into a game like this and then it just withers away. And I'm also somewhat guilty of this myself, but thought I'd bring it up.

Well I think not everyone wants to talk as much as you seem to want. Would it not be better to simply continue the game? Maybe no one is talking because they don't want to talk to you or someone else. Instead of extending the deadlines, simply move forward. I tend to think that the longer deadlines are actually bad for the game. They really just drag things out. If you want people invested then make deadlines quicker. People will start talking to you if you start making inroads to their land...

It's not just the talking bit, but everyone else seems to be ready to stop the game. I'm considering it.. I mean, wouldn't make much sense to keep putting my time into this game if everyone else wants to quit and are just half-assing it!
