[SPOILER] PBEM21, "Zero to Hero" (Kuro, Pericles' Ottomania)

Also, I sent the turn along. Nothing really happened this turn: Next turn, when Ari explores the gold more and Equius is founded, I'll compile a real report.

So, turn in...my capital finished it's Worker, which is loaded on to the Galley which moved into the capital this turn, and will head to Equius. It is now going to finished a 2T Scout for mainland, um, scouting.

Ari moves and...

As you can see, so far, only one food resource for that gold site...but it has some killer late game potential, with no fewer than seven grassland riverside locations and the riverside Sheep AND a Gold resource, on a plains hill that picks up three more hills. Farm a grassland early maybe for food and help that along.

The USS Thunderchild was asked to not scout Jkioan lands and, seeing no reason to be hostile, I complied. So it's off to meet Noble.

Equius was founded this turn...

Long term, it's production power is average, but not bad. Short term, however, it has plenty of food to fund either hammers(9 from two hills + Horse) or science(Scientists) or even both and, with a Corn, a Clam and a Pig it will assuredly be useful, as food is king early game. It was also almost pure profit to found, so that's good. As I found out when I founded it, I just missed a clam: But the addition of horsies in the BFC makes up for it. Being able to hit 10 hammers so easy is good.

Short term, the plan is to get it up and running. Long term, it along with Feferi should stay at high pop, but Equius should pump some defense and other such things. Has a decent amount of forests to chop, so.

Abby and Ducky won't have to chop forests in Feferi for a while, so they're going to improve my starting island's land, mostly cottages. Make a single mine or two.

Bleh. Lame post, but...done. Sorry. >.<

So, turn in. Everything is proceeding as planned.

Food resources all up on his copper and horse. Jkioan has some nice city sites to make up for his poor opening, I suppose.

Honestly...nothing much happened. I only had two units to move, everything is producing as usual, only one unit had anything to show...

Next turn I jam research to 100% for a turn for max Masonry overflow. I'm going to shoot an E-Mail to both Ellimoogle(Asking if they met NobleLewwyn) and Jkioan(Just some friendly chat) after this, I guess.

So with the turn in, the Scout finishes. I still want to grow, Erodan will be whipping a lot...a Granary, then.

As you can see, Jkioan has some seriously sick land all up in this.

Here's a little mental exercise for my smart civvers. How do I not impede the time for the Worker to chop a forest for the Work Boat, but load the Scout into the Galley this turn?

Answer:

Unload the Worker right there, the Galley cannot get it working any sooner, and go right back in the city then load the Scout in.

Very simple, but eh.

Anyway, moving Ari shows...

THAT is an awesome location. 1S of Ari and I should pick up two Corn, one riverside, Gold, 5 total hills including the Gold and founded on a Plains Hill, with delicious flatland all around, mostly Grassland which is riverside!

I want this city ASAP, maybe before the copper city as Jkioan has not hooked up any strategic resources, then put the copper city down and have Equius put out some defense. Depending on how it'll affect maintanence, this might even warrant a Palace move, IMO.

Ari is going to head up and around that copper now and overall just defog the mainland more.

I've ceased being able to read C&D, but this screen is good: The 76 is Ellimoogle, but 14 of that is culture AND they are researching Writing with 3 prereqs: So odds are, we are not that far behind of them in actuality. We're also #2 in food despite our capital still regrowing and even Feferi somewhat. That's good!

So now my turn ends.

Can you say: "Great Person Farm" lol

yikes That is one of the most beautiful city sites I have ever seen in civ mp. Pink dot that sucker!

I am like 85% sure I will be settling it next, so. I do admit I want to get out some decent defense soon, though while expanding. Thinking Equius could at least pump out a Chariot or two to help along.

Not sure how much of a pink dot it is, either. It is certainly closer to me than Jkioan.

Question I guess is whether to settle the plains hill or the riverside grassland hill:

+2 health for a stronger longterm city
or
+1 hammers for a quicker start up

My initial idea would be to settle on the plains hill for the quicker growth, but I think it also depends on the land to the north of the grassland hill: How many more riverside tiles it gets, if there's another resource, etc.

I think, after I get this Mono stuff over with, I will go for Archery before Maths and such.

Honestly, being so defenseless and reading both Jkioan and Ellimoogle...Ellimoogle isn't talking deadly, but I get the impression they would if I stayed left open and Jkioan worries me. I want some archer chances.

So, with this turn in, we discovery Masonry. We should be able to 2T Poly.

The HMS New Zealand puts the Scout on the mainland, the USS Thunderchild finds nothing new...

Ari will finished scouting out the planned gold spot, Aradia Megido.

She will be the first of the Godly Triumvur8.

Ducky and Abby finish the cottage that both Eridan and Erodan can work and moves on to another riverside one.

Note that currently, we have 4 total cities. Jkioan and Ellimoogle have two. Lookin' good, huh?

Nothing worth piccing this turn, so just sent it along after ending.

Well...until THIS happened:

Including the eventual missionary trade, we will have 3 religions. More importantly, I can make 3 Temples then, running 3 Priests to make a Prophet and a shrine.

Fuck yeah.

Even at 400 GPP needed, the amount from three Priests would take only 22 turns. At 300, 16. At 200, 11.

We're gonna need Priesthood at some point for this.
