I got the latest save. Apparently forwarding worked this time. Gonna look at it after I get through my turns for 14 and 18.

Okay, I'm forcing your hand a bit with this save but I think you'll agree with me. I moved the warrior in the South NW onto the gems. Thought we should check out our back fill area. Thus you'll have to do the same move when you play the turn. Worth it though.

I found riverside corn. We're definitely going south with the first city:

Red is our goal. Gems and corn in first ring. Lime and Blue are good backfill cities that will require Hunting and fishing which we may want to put off. Yellow I say is filler, but actually it should be a decent city with the banana and it can share tiles with the cap. Strawberry on the stone I think plants itself, first ring pig, ivory and it gets those crab, plus its a 2H plant and gives us uninterrupted stone quickly. Yay wonders.

Now in the north Ice and Black cities were probably the hardest to plant. Ice gets that Oasis that you don't get if you plant on the riverside plains (Which I really would have liked). Black is nice and on the coast with that inlet.

These are the sites I would settle as of right now. Copper and horses might change it, but probably not too drastically. I think this gives us a great core and we don't even have the last bit of back fill explored. A couple of the cities are closer together than I may have usually placed them but thats because of resource placement. Additionally while I believe red should be the first city we settle I think we should then try to settle the next city outward, perhaps black.

Yay corn! Yeah, red is definitely the 2nd city. Further thoughts after work, can't write long posts right now smile

The save came in the middle of the night for me, I won't be able to play for at least another 4 hours, so you can play and send it on before then, by all means do it!

I'm not certain if I can send the save to the tracker from my account. I asked in the Org thread. I could probably send the save directly though of course that won't show up on the tracker. I'm going out to dinner in eight minutes so I'd rather not mess with it right now. I'll send the save if it hasn't been sent by the time I get back, and we'll see about making sure with the tracker so I can do any saves that come in the night for you, though only if we're agreed on whats happening in the turn. Final say is up to you.

T11 played and sent on. Scout healing, Warrior moved onto gems as Lewwyn instructed (thanks!)

Totally concur with the dotmap.

After thinking about it, I've got 2 comments about the dotmap, one general and one specific smile

General: do we want to get the 3rd city out before the Oracle? We proably can, the problem is that apart from the red dot, all cities need a tech we don't have yet (AH, Hunting, or Fishing). Or just build Workers/Warriors, improve tiles, build roads, and get ready to mass-produce Settlers immediately after Oracle, when we will be able to research those techs? I just don't see any spots we can make productive without these techs

Specific: what do you think of moving the green dot on the other side of the bay (2S), and blue 1SW? The current blue has too many ocean tiles for my liking, and even a peak (!); moving it SW partially solves this problem, and gets more resources in its BFC, although they will be shared with green?

No, we do not want to get a 3rd city out before Oracle IMO. smile

Moving blue south across the bay depends on what tiles we have west of Red. How much land is there? If there's enough for another city then maybe not. Plus blue where it is gets the 2h plant of the PH. I think if you're comparing the two current blue might be a stronger city because of it. Then again who knows what we see in the West of Red. If there's barely any more land maybe we consider moving Blue south to accommodate a better dotmap.

But mostly I think we should focus on 2 things. Getting the gems city and the gems up. Getting Oracle. This means build worker next and then double chopping out the settler. Then starting the oracle and chopping that out.

That means for tech after BW we'll probably want to go straight into either or poly/med>priest>pottery>AH. I think if we get AH before taking our shot at the Oracle we will lose it. Thoughts?

Yes, totally agree with this!

Novice sent us T11 save again, hope we'll get the correct one soon

T12

Continued to the west with the Warrior; he's close to the western fog, may just as well explore it. Doesn't look like there's much to explore though

Mining in, BW next

What do we do with the worker after the farm is finished? Mine 1N?
