T-hawk Wrote:Same way. 2000 is the score for owning all the land tiles on the map, so your land score is 2000/X points per tile. (A land tile only counts after it has been held for 20 turns.)

One benefit of playing last in turn order is that I don't have to keep track of land area to know what points are land points. The game adds land points after the round of turns ends, so when I end a turn I just watch other players' scores and use the formula to tell how many tiles of land they got points for.

I don't know why wonders are 5 each so the Palace scores 5/310. It would calculate exactly the same way if each wonder was 1/62.

Turns 51 & 52

Visiting family, so a short update for today's turns:

Bit of galley micro over by AAA. It ended T51 on the tile showed in that screen, and a warrior boarded it on that tur. On the beginning of T52, the warrior exited, the new worker joined, and then the galley moved 3 to the south.

You can see that Yuris has not expanded towards me as well. Well, you can't because I guess I took this screenshot before I moved the galley, but he doesn't have a city on his stone island. I'm going to try to get as much of the good spots between us as possible. I saw that Yuris went so far as to "steal" the corn location north of gaspadore. Btw, gaspadore & i got screwed with our corn locations. But hey, random map.

I also whipped a settler in AAA, and next turn it will board the galley before it moves towards my next city. The one in New Deal will finish in 3 turns, and I'm considering starting another in CAA.

Also finished Priesthood at the end of T52.

Your short form is better than most folks' long form. Keep it up.

The demo analysis stuff today is mucho helpful for my work in PBEM25. I can do early game, but I Lose precision when wonders and land come into play. Thanks all!

Turn 53

CAA grew to size 2, so I changed it to a settler. It can work the dry wheat and horses and get a settler out in 7 turns. AAA finished its settler from the whip last turn, which then ran to board the galley heading south. Then my galley moved SW along my southern coast, and unloaded the worker on the ice hill. The worker will get to pre-road for a turn, before the galley unloads the settler and we found our 5th city in 2 turns.

But what I found near Yuris may change my settling order:

If that galley is empty then I'm okay. If a settler comes out of it... say, if it goes 2NE and steals my spot... then I settle on the copper and initiate my 10 turn cooldown with Yuris.

He's been expanding like mad and I've yet to see a defended city. I could threaten most of his cities with my 2 galleys and a couple of units. Enough to keep him away.

Maybe I should do that anyway...

Turn 54

Well, a settler did come out of it, but not where I feared it may. Yuris has landed it on his stone/horse island. So I continued with my settling plan, and landed my settler north of the deer.

I still may initiate the cooldown on our NAP, just to get him building something besides settlers. Really, I'd like to figure out how long it would take to get the building set and a couple axes & chariots to raid coastal towns. I'll do that when I get back home.

Whipped a granary in CCC, and next turn I'll have another settler & worker out.

Hehe, Vikings want blood too... but I think I'm going to try to farmer gambit just like my neighbors for the next 10 turns. Who knows, that may yet change.

Turns 55 & 56

Another city founded on Turn 55, and another settler is ready to found next turn on a sweet 3-food spot.

Both will grow fast with multiple food sources. Work boats are inbound, as right now New Deal & AAA are supplying the work boats for my new cities in order for them to get up and running faster.

CWA is short for the Civil Works Administration. Here's your wiki link, but the CWA was a program meant to create manual labor jobs for unemployed people during the Great Depression.

I also have my 4th worker built during the last two turns. I named him after William H Woodin, Secretary of the Treasury from 1933 until he died in 1934 - Wiki link. Here's hoping naming my workers after the treasury will help my treasury grow. Next worker I'm naming after the Sec. of Commerce.

The exploring boats are making their way back home. To my SE, the galley has found some of the missing resources:

You can see he is almost back to the main island. He'll get back in time to pick up CAA's settler and drop it off on the crab/clam island east of AAA.

The work boat is moving through Yuris' lands:

The work boat will cut north along Yuris' coast, and then hopefully build fishing nets for a city by the northern copper. Crossing my fingers that I beat Yuris to it.

I spent part of today working out my worker & galley micro for the next few turns.

By the way, I've settled on names for my galleys. The galleys I build will be named Beaver, Hebo, and Cloverdale. Beaver is the one exploring and where he ends his turns are noted in red. Beaver drops off the settler from CAA, and then hangs around to pick up the next settler from AAA. Hebo is in yellow, and is the galley that just dropped off my latest settler; he'll explore the south a bit while shuttling the worker to the sheep tile in the south. Cloverdale is in green and will be shuttling a warrior MP along with a worker to CCC next turn.

At least, that's how it is until i change it. smile
