If you change the mod, I'll gladly post it with the changes, and make sure it's in at least mine + Krill's signatures.

I would not recommend trying to implement my guidelines into an explicit list of banned actions; they're meant to be fuzzy but implementable.

I don't support this for the ongoing game, and I don't think we need a software implemented 2hr rule. It appears even the worst clock-rider of PB7 still managed to keep the letter of the law in this area. Realms Beyond is nothing if we can't follow the dang clock.

Software changes aren't necessary. Subjective rules, lets keep talking.

Personally, my intentions when playing would be to play the turn as early as I possibly can. If this means I double move, so be it, but I won't ever go out of my way to do so. I hope this is acceptable?

No reason to do a software mod here.

Okay I've thought about this some more, and I don't fully understand why there's this consensus that PB7's rule was broken. We've seen exactly two problem people in that game (ASM/LP), and neither of them or anyone similar to them are in this game. Other than that, PB7 has been fine. There have been several occasions where someone intentionally double-moved a warrior to kill a scout, and everyone was fine with that because the rule is "double-moves allowed". The only person actually abusing the rules to double-move ALL THE TIME was LP - other than that, people were generally playing as soon as they could and only double-moving occasionally. It seems that after this LP/ASM hysteria went down it turned into this revisionist thing where we all pretended like the rule was supposed to be "avoid double moves" when in reality the rule was "double moves allowed" and the 2 hour thing was just to become the equivalent of the online 8 second rule.

So... I'm not sure what we're aiming to do here? Fix a rule that I don't think has been broken yet? The line between intentional double-moving and accidental double-moving is so gray and the benefit so enormous, that I thought the whole point of the rule was so quit legislating double-moves and just allow them (but tone them down with the 2 hour rule).

We're trying to make sure we all play the same game.

The PB7 people right now play two completely different games, each with a different ethos, that can't be reconciled in any way on the same map and in the same group of people.

If we're by chance doing the same this will blow up in our face.

It is not about rules, it's about what we want them to do.

Oh I get that - I get trying to figure that out. I don't fully understand the repercussions of the game we're looking for here. The understanding I get is that the consensus is:

Quote:1) Do not double-move another unless you absolutely cannot avoid it (on players honor - like not reading another player's thread)
2) Do not play in the first 2 hours of a turn if you did not end turn OR you finished last.

Now, with the first part considered, the second part is completely pointless right? Seriously, what's the point of that if you're supposed to not double-move ever unless you can't avoid it? Also, this consensus is actually drastically different from the PB7 rule we launched the game with, so are all understanding this a rule change?

It's mostly pointless. But to use Azza as an example, he said he'll try to play his turns as early as possible: if he were to play one turn last and then the next turn, without that rule he could just play it immediately. The 2 hour extension prevents that.

Me, I'm going for the Gentleman of the turn timer award from PB7.

Right but the "don't double-move people unless you have no choice" prevents that too.... which makes it a redundant rule.

*shrug* 12 hour shifts (which a fair few of us work it seems) really do make it difficult to play sometimes.

Personally, I'm fine with what Azza posted as he basically plays at the same sort of time every day. If he double moves me for that reason, then I'm ok with that.
