That's good or RBMod could be modded to screw Krill.

Its like the game is taunting you as the only advantage it has given you is to know how crap your land actually is.

So, scouting. I got 5 XP on my warrior, which is almost as good as an actual scout in some ways (slower overall scouting), and better than others (less likely to die so long as I stick to forests). As ASM commented, all the better to see just how crap my land really is, and to give me longer to mope and whine about it. The RNG makes me unhappy, so I spread it around.
The red path lets me scout out the NW of the capital. I can make a deviation to check out that potential desert city, to see if there is any seafood. I think it makes sense, I know I can't get ambushed by barbs if I go that way, and knowing if that city site is viable will affect the rest of my dot map.
The yellow route is the best way that I can scout out the very south asap, but I don't see the point in sending my only good scout of to search for people when I need to find good city sites, so I'm ruling that out straight away. But if my land weren't utter sh!te, that's one of the routes I'd take.
The blue route is arguably one of the dumbest routes of all, going to scout out some mountains, and towards a lion, with unknown tiles to defend on. Risky with no rewards, so...nope. Red it is.

Ah, the warrior isn't actually where he is in that picture, the picture is from last turn. I popped the hut which is on the first red dot, so that is where the warrior starts from. You can compare this to the picture in post 133.

Something I've been meaning to talk about is the metagame change that the RB mod has introduced. Back in vanilla BtS, the correct strategy was to always run a farmers gambit and to tech into the future, via Lib. I tried that in PBEM 20 and got crushed for it.
I'm still not entirely sure what viable strategies there are, but in PBEM20 I won lib, had the MoM and a bunch of wonders, and FIN. I couldn't hold an amazing tech lead, though I could hold a fairly reasonable one (between 10K-15K beakers at all times, which isn't a huge amount of tech with the doubled costs). I need to remember that yes, I do need to expand, but falling behind in expansion and tech isn't the end of the game, unless someone decides that I'm #1 on the list of targets.

A farmer's gambit will nearly always work in any economy based game unless you are called on. You just have to find the viable path that doesn't leave you extra dead.
Also, I vote red but I would prefer going toward West of Wines. Farther north means Tundra, farther south means desert. The only habitable band on this planet is clearly the band your capitol is in or really far south.
