[no players] You're doing it wrong...the lurking thread

I don't get it. Every time I tried stuff like that, the other simply got totally upset and made me an enemy for life (well, ingame of course). Ok, that is maybe exaggerated a little bit, but still, I can't remember that working for me ever. Most players get pretty upset when you ask them for their cities I think - and I would not have expected them to give up 3 cities. But I guess having to assume that Lewwyn will jump in as well isn't the best outcome.

Only... is anyone else expecting Lewwyn to do the same in 4 turns?

Well, they do have a lot of HA to gift away...I hope that occurs to them.

Pindicator taught us all something with his Zerker Sale... I'm sure Gaspar of all people will consider it. But how to pull it off in AI diplo? Unless Lewwyn has the cash on hand to request in trade, you have to communicate your price...

Maybe something like this: run one horse archer into his borders and ask for 'x' gold. If he says yes gift the unit. Continue each turn requesting as many multiples of X as he has available, and gifting that number the next turn. It may still take too long to do any good, what with all the Lbows in Korea's queue.

Incidentally, this sort of thinking is why I asked Nobgas what the political stage looks like... do they really trust Lewwyn enough to attempt this? It would be pretty cool if they pull it off!

Well, it's not about the money, really, Pindicator needed a bare minimum amount to reach Nationalism first, otherwise he would have been well off just gifting the troops away. The real question is probably how secure they feel (after all, they want Latte Isles at least) and how much they trust Lewwyn to use the troops effectively.

Crap, did I just go over the line with my post in Gaspar's thread? I was thinking unit sales would be completely unworkable due to the CTON format, but then I come to the lurker thread and everybody is discussing how it would happen. Do I need to edit that post? Or will that just tip them off into thinking we thought it was spoilerish so there must be merit to it.

banghead

5 min later... Well, it would be kind of silly to think he wouldn't think of it. I mean, I did sell my units to his team in 26. Still, I don't like thinking I could be influencing their plans here.

Oddly enough it was about the money for me; I never would have done it in 26 if I hadn't been trying to brainstorm ways to raise funds to reach Nationalism.

This is Gaspar, he's thought of it I'm sure, I'm just, as said, not sure he's interested in reducing his power to fight a proxy war with an extremely short-term NAP (9 turns to go)

Well, I certainly think your comment should not have been made Pin. Comm is probably right that Gaspar would have thought about it on his own but at least right now, they had no clue what to do with their HAs, as evidenced by what they wrote in their thread.

And can someone explain to me why they are so concentrated on N7? Yes, I understand that N7 settled aggressively and all that crap, but if you play to win, you'll have to think about mackoti as well. Gaspar lost PBEM24 because he gave mackoti a free pass and I think he is about to do the same here.

NobGas has said that Lewwyn is being nice, and Mackoti is far away. I'm sure that will change in time, but for now it leaves only N7 for a target.

At one point Lewwyn was talking about attacking Mackoti... did anything come of that?

Wow, that was nasty.
