The first attempt of a dotmap. Isn't even close to what I will really get the map is production poor, and leaving out two GL hills NW of the capital is simply unacceptable. Just a pretty(ish) picture to base further plans on

BW researched. Copper in capital's BFC, nice
Switching to Slavery already. Want to go there before copper is improved, to lose as few yield as possible
After Worker, I went for Workboat for the clams. I will be growing to 4 before building the first Settler
Researching Hunting next to improve the cows and get that 3/3/0 tile up. Working corn, cow, copper and clams at size 4 and whipping 6->4 seems to be perfect
Explored land. Didn't explore too far, didn't want to move that Warrior too far away and risk Plako's fate. My land knowledge is quite sufficient for initial expansion
Still not sure where the 2nd city will go, don't see a good production location yet

Well, I finally got round to drawing something resembling a real dotmap. Here is what I came up with
Magenta dot - the best production location I have in sight. I'm not entirely happy with it, especially because of lack of fresh water with river being so close, but can't move it without losing hills. Flood plains will have to be farmed
Orange and Cyan dots - nice commerce locations with a lot of potential cottages. Can be moved around if necessary. I like one of them, most likely Cyan, as a future capital
Blue dot - another potentially high commerce location, even though desert incense isn't a great tile
Red dot - the only coastal city apart from the capital, and the only way to get that plains hill in the east by a city with food
Getting production is going to be a big struggle. I plan to explore nearby islands relatively early, maybe I'll find something nice there. Although I have a map of one of them from a hut, and it has no resources at all
I'm getting 2 Warriors in the capital while it's growing from 3 to 4, then will finally start a Settler

Founded my second city last turn
I'm not very happy with my opening here, T40 second city is way too late, I think I'm the last to 2 cities. At least I will have a ton of good tiles to work with, so it's not too bad
Wheel is finishing, then I'm going to go Pottery - AH - Sailing. There are plenty of islands nearby, and while they don't have excellent city spots, at least one offshore city for trade routes would be nice

Would you consider settling that incense city on the incense? like you said, desert incense isnt' a great tile and that way, you get it right away and can cottage the FP instead of farming them.
What do you think you should have done differently in your opening to speed it up>

Settling on the incense is an option I considered, but the currently planned Blue dot seems to be better. The incense N of the Blue dot interferes with the Red dot, and the incense NW of it loses the grassland riverside tile. I still need Calendar to get access to incense, and I don't even get a bonus commerce on the city tile from settling on it (because the tile only has 1 commerce yield unimproved). So I don't see any benefits
Not really sure about a better opening. Maybe Worker-Worker, then chop into a Workboat and a Settler, to really take advantage of the early BW? Let's think about it
T15 - Worker done and moves onto the corn. Second Worker starts, getting 4 foodhammers/turn
T20 - farm finished. 2nd Worker 20/60, now getting 6 foodhammers/turn
T24 - BW in, start the first chop. 2nd Worker 44/60
T26 - chop comes in, 2nd Worker 56+20=76/60
T27 - Workers move. Overflow into Settler
T28 - start chops, switch to WB. Settler 22/100
T30 - WB 42/30 with chops
T31 - WB finished and moves. 13 overflow into Settler. Food 15/22. Workers move
T32 - Settler 41/100. Switch to Warrior to grow. Start 2 more chops
T34 - Grow to 2. Chops come in, Settler 81/100, now getting 8 foodhammers/turn
Settler finishes on T37, same as in the opening I played. I have an extra Worker, but no military apart from the starting Warrior. Copper is not mined
Ignoring a WB and going Worker-Worker-Settler was definitely stronger (as it usually is). But I wasn't sure I could ignore military and go for this opening. The way I played was probably a little too safe. It's ok, but I'm a behind those who did go for Worker-Worker-Settler or something like that

Founded my 3rd city. Need more Workers. Restarted scouting, and found some interesting tiles in the jungle. Pindicator is the only contact for now
I'm going to try and grab Buddhism (Hinduism is already taken). There are no pre-Calendar happiness resources (no, jungle gems don't count), and I don't want to play another game where I'm stuck at size 4 for over 100 turns

It's T100, so I guess I need to update. Somehow RB Mod games are not getting the best reporting from me But this game has been quite straightforward so far, I'm separated by a jungle strip from other 3 civs on my continent, and can peacefully expand. This is how my empire looks at the moment
My main problem is lack of pre-Calendar happy resources. I'm finishing Iron Working shortly, and will be able to at least connect gems. But my economy is hurting, just +6 gpt at 0%, and I didn't even start Maths yet. Could very well be a mistake
The green blob in upper right corner is a city Rego/Pindicator just founded. I guess they don't have horses any closer, but I'm going to try and kill it, they have no rights to that peninsula
Demos
And best cities
That size 14 city (I'm almost sure it's Krill's) is why I don't feel good about this game, my happiness threshold will be at 6 for a long time...

Do you plan to tech to Monarchy before Mathematics? That would really help in working more population tiles. Of course if it takes way to long it might be best to just keep research at 0%, cottage spam and try to increase the slider 10 turns later...

I think it's going to take way too long, especially because I still need Priesthood for Monarchy. Priesthood+Monarchy is probably slightly cheaper, but Math+Currency will be way more effective
