Every friggin time that something interesting is happening this game, someone holds the turn. From now on I'm solely playing people with PYFT factors of 5000 or greater. Or, essentially, I'm only playing duels against Commodore. :P
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

It's okay guys, we apparently have Speaker on our side!
Speaker Wrote:"Eystein the Wise" refers to a BtS beta tester whose civ name was Willburn. During beta testing, several of us played a game against some of the developers, and beat up on them so badly, they decided to name Great Spies about us. You will find me in the game as "Speaker the Lionhearted" and should be able to find MookieNJ (Mark Swiss) in there as well. There may have been one or two more, I can't remember.

Well that just makes me want to know the PYFT factors of the civs that you have played with

So N7 attacked and took Sea Collective without losses. Pretty much any hope of success hinged on us winning the first fight with the longbow. As it turned out, we just wasted gold for nothing.
You can see the odds for the battles in the log. Had we gotten a decent result on either the LB or the spear, there was a chance for the city to hold. Odds certainly in their favor, but it wasn't beyond the realm of possibility to get some different luck. Nonetheless they offered white peace after and we accepted. We just don't have any real way to hurt them right now. When I say them, btw, novice hasn't played a turn in forever. Anyway, you can also see mack finally wardec'd Lewwyn. Noble thinks that this might mean 7 wardec's Lewwyn as well to get a piece of the action. I'm skeptical. Either way, we have 10t to get in position to take a stab at something.
Not a lot else today. This was the last turn of the GA so we revolted back to slavery. GSci due in Colony next turn. Optics is in.
Here's a shot at Labor Network, planted last turn:
We have 3 more cities to found after that. This location, in the West Indies, which Unity Lair just completed a settler for:
And these two filler spots:
Here's the misleadingly bad demos, as we just fell off golden age and obviously tile allocations will change with normal yields on. That population score won't last either, as we'll be whipping pretty hard over the next few turns.
I'll save the heavy commentary for the T100 report, but suffice to say we are in the shitter about as much as those demographics indicate. We basically have one hail mary left but even that won't be able to make us competitive in a game where 7s already landed Liberalism. (BTW, wtf mackoti? How did you get beat there? You've had a tech lead for ages, 7 blew bulbs on stuff like Guilds. Put the peace pipe down, son.)

I'll respond to this now. Here's everyone I've played a PBEM against, on a scale of 1-10, starting chronologically:
PBEM12:
Kyan - 7
Tredje - 8
Gingereagle1969 - 8
Whosit - 6
Malakai - 7
PBEM14:
scooter - 7
Sandover - 5
Lewwyn - 5 (Also generally an 8-ish, but 1. being in China basically murders the 2-turn day from ever happening and 2. He's prone to the occasional bender which causes him to miss several days.)
Serdoa - 7
FFH7:
Kyan - 7
Krill - 5 (also generally an 8-9, but prone to drunken blackout where he forgets he has the save, a computer, or electricity)
DaveV - (not fair to judge, he was controlling 800000000 units at the time he took over)
Nicolae - 8
Rawkking - 5
Acalostas - 6
Brian - 8
PBEM24:
mackoti - 5* (mackoti is generally an 8-9 PYFT player but then randomly goes on vacation for a week without alerting anyone ahead of time or goes 4 days forgetting he has the save because he's playing in 15 games at once. That's annoying enough that it drags his overall rating way down.)
Commodore - 5000
Twinkletoes89 - 10
FFH17:
Jkaen - (-5000)
Amelia - 1
Ravus Sol - 5
Commodore - 5000
PBEM29:
Lewwyn, mackoti - see above
N7 - 8
I didn't rate PBEM26 because I was really more really active dedlurker to Commodore than main turnplayer so I wasn't hanging on the save as much as other games.
Also, generally players in the 7-8 range you can count on how they feel about the game impacting how often they play the save. Early in the game, the PBEM14 guys were pretty good. Later on as first Serdoa and Lewwyn, then Sandover and then finally scooter got more and more disinterested in the game the save got slower and slower and we missed more days. That sort of behavior is typical of most players. Really the only people I've played with that will absolutely always get you a save in their slot, plus outside of their slot everyday barring serious RL concerns are Commodore and TT. I'd like to think people I've played against would say the same about me, but my work schedule means most of the time I can only reliably play in my slot.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Okay, I'm giving up. What does PYFT stand for? And boo on not rating 26 because even though I don't know what it means I still wanted a rating
(Wait, it may have just dawned on me but I'm still not sure. )

PYFT means play your fucking turn. I think the acronym was created by bobchillingworth in FFH PBEM XI, but I'm not sure. It's a not-so-charming way to talk abou the average time the player takes to play his turns in a PBEM game.

QFT. Maybe it was all a brilliant plan by Gaspar to get more posts in his thread?
