It seems king of strange for me to try and send cryptic messages through the in-game options of Civ IV to your opponents in a no-diplo game. Since we are always the same crew playing the games, we will soon all understand what some of those things were supposed to mean (i.e. 2 pig trades mean a dogpile - of course this is just created right now, so not a spoiler).

Suddenly, we have a diplo game again. With some people thinking they are doing some special thing (especially if not all the community knows the meaning of the codes).

So, why play a no-diplo game if you are going to try this?

You did the same thing trying to communicate that you wanted peace but couldn't take it that moment because you needed to stay in Crusade.

Yes, you're right that I wouldn't want a system of trade codes to develop where you indicate a NAP or a dogpile or stuff like that. But I don't see a real problem with trying to express some degree of friendship by in-game actions - we did that by not taking Lewwyn's worker or razing his city, for example. It's natural to do.

In other news, mackoti just offered to trade maps + he gives us 10g. What is this, 10g map sale season?

We finished our audacious *cough* Astronomy bulb plan and we now have Galleons whilst none of our opponents have so much as researched Compass. Of course, this would be more exciting if not for the fact that we just built a pair of these:



To man those boats. Those, along with many obsolete HA will be boarding fresh Galleons over the next few turns. And yes, in something like 6 BTS games at RB those are the first two Swords I've ever built. Meanwhile, N7 finish Gunpowder this turn and if I had research visibility on mackoti I'd gander that he's right there as well.

No fancy micro - we're actually a little short of workers in this area because they're all still in the jungle.

That's about all the news fit to print. A look at F1 shows how there's really nothing to tell this turn - it took a fair amount of micro to make this happen. Amazing since usually Noble forgets that "Build Wealth" is an option.



Saving gold next turn or two then onto CS, Construction and Engineering before heading towards Edu and PP.

Not having anything to do with anything, but since it came up in the general forum, here's an overview of mack's territory. It is an extreme overstatement to say he's using a lot of cottages - I count two cottaged cities.

Hard to say. Noble and I argue about this pretty much every turn. We're definitely going to attack someone. We have our boat builds put together in such a way that we basically can attack N7, attack mackoti, or attack both. So its really a matter where we have the best opening. Colomids last I saw was probably too well defended for our pathetic raiding parties, with LB, Knight, Chariot, Warrior. A C2 Knight is basically impregnable to HAs attacking from boats.
