Healing is 20% base within your own city (not sure about a teammate's.) Add 10% for Medic I and 15% for Medic III equals 45% total. Heck, that might be enough to wipe out the collateral entirely.
Team 2 hasn't gotten Economics, so Castles are still available. Does Beijing have one? Does a castle halve (quarter, when considering the prerequisite walls too) bombardment damage from a cannon?

No, it doesn't slow down cannon bombardment. But the walls/castle portion of the defense might go unbombarded and affect the nongunpowder units attacking? I don't know.

Nope, castles won't do anything against cannons.

I think it only does so if both promotions are on the same unit. Which is hard.

This is correct. "Possible" ways to do this:
Spend 2 GGs. That's a little pricey; usually if you spawn that many GGs, you want 2 Medic IIIs instead.
Boudica "only" needs 6 charismatic promotions.
That's 28XP I believe, which is doable but not straightforward with a GG.
Agg Aztec only needs 5 promotions on a Jaguar:
26XP. A mite easier, except that Jags aren't great forever.
EDIT: Cha Aztec need 28XP.
Boudica of Aztec only needs 20XP. Trivial.

The problem, of course, is that most units that can take Woodsman III are stuck on 1 moves (unless you take Morale). And I think that the free first strikes often makes your Medic unit the top defender, which is not what you want.
So it's not as useful as it sounds.

45 points will heal up to 2 cannons worth of damage for any unit. Course, it won't completely heal the muskets getting hurt by attacking cannons
