EitB Bug Thread

Just a guess: always war forces the Infernals to be at war with the Kuriotates, and then the "Hyborem is at war with everyone his summoner is at war with" mechanic triggers.

Hey, can we fix the BTS bug where riverside lumbermills don't give 1c if they're at a bend in the river? See Bob's thread in the rainforest adept game.

Oh, I thought this was intentional, not a bug.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Not sure if it's intentional or not, but it's been around since Vanilla Civ4....

Speaking of long term bugs. Is there any chance we could fix the T1 bug? You know, the one where PBEM's have to delete the first save because the names are identical. Is it as simple as just renaming the first turn of the game to T0?

Was playing my first game of EitB when I spotted this and thought it had to be a bug.

Somehow both my ally Falamar and myself were able to build the same hero. Selected is my copy of Mary Morbus, while you can see his in the highlighted stack.

Another that I spotted playing the same game is that I can build Royal Guards, even though I'm not in Aristocracy (I'm in Theocracy).

As part of EitB, Royal Guards lost the Aristocracy-req and got made into an Order-related unit, requiring Social Order.

I don't know what's up with the double Mary Morbus, though--that definitely looks like a bug. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you and Falamar are on the same team?
Played in: PBEM 4 [Formerly Jowy's Peter of Egypt] | PBEM 10 [Napoleon of the Dutch] | PBEM 11 [Shaka of France] | EitB XVI [Valledia of the Amurites] | PB7 [Darius of Rome] | Diplomacy 3 [Austria-Hungary] | PBEMm/o vs AutomatedTeller

Double MM is because there are two ways to get her in EitB- building her manually, and through an event. Getting her one way doesn't invalidate the other.

The building of the Nox Cortis pretty much crashes every game. It's fine in Worldbuilder (which is what I do for me and AI) but with a Great Person the whole game stops.

Had this happen to me in a SP game yesterday. I was in RoK at the time. Reloaded the save, swapped to CoE first - worked fine. So the bug is trying to build Nox Noctis when not in CoE, I think. I can provide a save if necessary, probably. >.>
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
