ok - color me completely confused.

Our power has been growing, right?
We whipped and made chariots in his sight, right?
We declared war and took a city, right?

So... how do we explain THIS?

Chiton has a warrior in it. That's it.

Where's his army? I think I should move the other chariot up to the other hill and see what is up. I mean, it's toast if he has a unit nearby, but still - what do you think?

sit in the south:

I promod the chariot to flanking 1. If he doesn't reinforce the city, we take it.

If he does reinforce it - well, we have 3 axes and holkan inside his borders and a chariot ready to come in just outside - they can hit chiton in 2 turns.

I have the axe and holkan visible to him in the north, as well.

This is expensive....

I roaded so an axe can go straight into Subtraction-to-be.

I moved Arithmatic from working the copper to the oasis, to make some more cash and to delay the chariot.

Yeah, I don't get it at all... He has some power. Where are the units? He only need a handful to deny us the city pre-catapults...

I assume they are off on the other side, defending against some aggression. But he didn't even whip!!

Presumably, he switched to a spear in chiton and didn't want to dry rush it... so they'll be a spear there next turn and probably an axe or something the turn after, with lots of overflow. if he does that and can move in another unit, he'll probably keep the city and we'll have to decide whether we want to kill some of our units to recover the economy or not.

Then he only gets the spear unless he clears the hills. Since he builds the spear and then we pillage his copper...

But if he clears the hills he leaves Chiton open to a 50/50 unless he can get another unit from somewhere.

Look at power next turn and we'll see if he's thinking it. It'll be the turn he can double-whip for units.

We had a forest chop at the cap, which gets us the settler in 2 turns. I think we just let it finish.

We need more commerce = more cottages. I think we should start adding cottages to the capital.

Yeah. I'd cottage the grassland zone between Vocabulary and the Capital. There's enough food between those two cities to keep those cottages worked.
