I was actually recently trying to pick up a girl and we talked about hobbies. She mentioned casually that she was a bit of a gamer so I asked what she was into. She said that she couldn't stop playing Civ5.
Suffice to say, I moved on.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Found a hilarious Civ 5 exploit:

Your own workers can repair a pillaged improvement in ENEMY territory. So you can sit there with a unit/worker pair and pillage every turn to earn 20+ gold from a trading post. Get the unit up to March and it doesn't even have to back out to heal.

This is not as powerful as the lux discontection exploit but it is much more amusing. You are only making around 5gpt. If you are ICSing, which is the best way to play this game under normal conditions, you will hit the unit maintence cap of 5gpt.* The fact that you are pillageing every other turn and using two units makes it 31/2-2*5= 5.5 gpt. Throw in the fact that you have to remain at war for a long time to get a lot of gold from this, and get locked out of trading makes it questionable if you are even gaining gold from this; unless you are doing it to many trading posts.
*Cutely this makes the -33% less unit maintance policy really about equal to -40%. Civ4 would cheat on the math and make some units -4 gold and others -3 gold--Civ5 use to cheat here to. But people noticed because people delete own units alot in Civ5 so they stopped cheating.

MJW (ya that one) Wrote:The fact that you are pillageing every other turn No, it's a pillage every turn. The Pyramids plus the Liberty worker policy gets the time to repair an improvement down to 1 turn on normal speed. It can be immediately pillaged on the same turn by the military unit.
You could also use a set of two workers plus one horseman to do 2 tiles per turn with only 3 units, if you can keep the horseman defended/healthy.
And you can do it against a city-state, which means no impact on diplomacy (although they don't build many trading posts.)
And it can pay off very well in a culture game, where you don't want to be expanding (like, if you can do this, why not just conquer the city), and the cost per unit will be low.
