Sorry haven't posted much, just not good at micro.
We still after Oracle?
I don't support it myself, just 'cause its risky especially with players like Kyan and Mackoti.
Also someone posted somewhere (thinking Krill) that players who Oracle MC or something often get caught up thinking they HAVE to use it and then get caught upon forges and Collosus.
That's why IMO its safer and probably better to just REX.

Really sorry if you changed plans and I missed it, also you're fine ignoring everything I say, I'm still a noob.

We haven't been working towards Oracle, I believe that's off the table. I do think Oracle => MC is a great move, it means you can leisurely build Colossus on your own time rather than being in a real race. But it does carry the risk of failing to get it, which is a risk we don't want to take here.

GLH and Pyramids are banned, right? I can't find the ban list anywhere. I suggest that The Hanging Gardens be the first wonder we go for, planting a city on top of the stone when we need it.

Just noticed that there are two stone resources down there. I'm getting a feeling that this isn't a mirror map, do we have any information about that from the setup thread?

well i dont think this is going to be a standard kyan-runs-roughshod-over-everyone game as thesticks played over 90% of the turns haha. but i think we can safely assume mackoti is favourite to take oracle as he only needs priesthood for his courthouse equivalent. just depends if he delays it. but yeah cats tight i think we can forget about it.

regarding the micro. it took me longer to get my head around it than it did to type it haha

umm cat i think mirrored starts were argued out but the reports interesting haha

i moved quechua1 1sw and stumbled on this:

I don't think he can see us. This might be a very good opportunity...Catwalk, any suggestions on where to move? He's creative, so I doubt we can really sneak up on him, but I think 1 SE then 1S (onto the grassland hill) or 1 S then 1SE gives us a solid shot at starting a choke.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

I agree, and S => SE will give us a little extra visibility (peak down left somewhere). No reason not to make a little show of strength in a CTON game. And no, he can't see us.
Reply

the reason i asked if he can see us is dont peaks give extra vision? kyan showed me that game with those close starts he played in [31?] and how they helped and hindered depending on the turn order.

1s then 1se. agreed

I'm not completely sure, but I believe the only vision benefit peaks get is the ability to look beyond hills and forests.

so best not to go 1se first then haha
