T72 preps and frets

First off, HOLY CRAP A LURKER THREAD POST. I forgot this game had one wink. Anyways, workers doing worker things:

The thing that makes me nervous:

Hooked stone. However, he did NOT finish Hanging Gardens soo... He didn't have a plan set up to 1T it as soon as stone comes in. That actually makes me feel a lot better because that's what you'd expect Seven to do if he's gunning it. Anyways, checked out his other city:

Just one archer, but that's on a hill with holy city culture, so that's a much tougher kill than you think. Anyways, back to prep for Hanging Gardens:

I'll just swap to Aqueduct, 1-pop whip, and that'll overflow ~25h by itself. I'll throw in a chop too probably. 4 chops are ready to go btw:

4 chops by itself is 20h apiece for 80h total. Hanging Gardens is 201h. Stone puts it up to 160h for 4 chops. Factor in the Forge, and that's 180h. So yeah, that's a 1-turn Hanging Gardens. The plan would be to turn that extra population into Courthouses/Markets. I'm pretty sure I can get at least 1 more city down by then too. I have two settlers on the move for the north island, but I just don't think I can get the 2nd one down. I'm not willing to delay HG at this point - I'm too nervous with Seven running around with stone right now. Just because I was curious, I turned science at 100% to see what that did to GNP:

I'd like it to be better, but that's before I add 2 IC routes and an Academy, so that will help. That's a really easy 1T CoL whenever I want it, but I'll wait til I'm ready to start a Courthouse. My break-even tech rate has gone from like 40bpt to around 100bpt in the last dozen turns, but that's still not nearly good enough IMO. Working on it. Anyways, border popped and yeah, just isn't Dazed's game:

Blockade apparently still happening and Yuri is harassing him now. Really wish I knew which cities of his it was that burned. The weird thing is that multiple cities would fall on teh same turn. That seems hard to believe. But 60 point is a LOT of population. That's just massive. Weird. Anyways, EoT demos:

Btw that's 48 screenshots in the last 5 turns. Yep, I'm reporting consistently again, imagine that. Helps a lot that PB5 hasn't really moved in a few days.

And here you have a present for that.

T73 overflows a lot

Did a whip and a chop:

That results in this kind of overflow:

Stone will be hooked next turn, so that'll be 53h base overflow, 15h base for 68h base, for 153h total. I have 3 chops and 3 workers available next turn, but I actually would only need 2 of them to finish HG. Pretty nice. One dilemma I'm dealing with though is this:

Do I dare to spend a turn or two on wealth (to store overflow) and try to squeak another city or two into the HG bonus? I have a settler on this galley that can be included if I delay it 1T. I have another settler on Zoology that could be included if I delayed it 2T. This is tempting, but I'm thinking not, because I have 11 cities as is:

11 cities is pretty solid for Hanging Gardens, so I'm good with that. Anyways, other things:

I could have pillaged this seafood. Instead, I moved 1W to remind him I could have done it. He also poked around my stone city with a chariot and saw my stack of workers on the stone (I easily covered as I have 2 chariots & a spear in the area), so he may suspect a HG about to land. All the more reason to just finish it next turn instead of getting cute. Really need to hope nobody is about to steal it from me. Yuris is being annoying:

Yeah, totally logical to put that longbow there instead of, I don't know, here:

Whoops! Really wish I had a galley there instead of a Trireme. I'm about to finish it, but still. I need to get some extra military on the coasts to be able to punish stuff like this. I also need to see where he's going - if he's going to load up onto a galley and annoy me, that could be really annoying.

Anyways, about to get my Academy too and then I'll crank up science and start a round of Courthouses. Happiness is not an issue at all so I can continue ignoring Monarchy - I have Forge boosted silver and gold of course, but I also have ivory and soon (2-3 turns) fur, both of which are doubled by markets which I'm putting in big cities right now.

So yeah, now I get to sit and be nervous for 24 hours. Bleh.

T74 invites the extreme home makeover team to the palace

Yep, it didn't fall so:

I got some gardens built in a hurry:

Only used 2 of the 3 forest chops. I'll use another next turn probably or something. I actually went ahead and fired one of those scientists in favor of a cottage as I only needed 1 to finish the great scientist, and it allowed me to quit starving. Next turn I'll probably grab the rice back, get off the mines, and go fully onto growth. Yuri being annoying still:

Really? Is that necessary? Fine. He still refused to defend his lakefront city anyways. Also exposed workers.

That's just too easy up here. Wish I had a galley in this water and a Trireme in the other. Anyways, hit end turn and celebrate!

+11 population, +11 health, and a scientist ready to create an Academy for 532g of surplus to burn through. Pretty nice. Also about to settle an island city next turn so I'll get +1 commerce everywhere next turn as I turn science on. Tech rate should be pretty fast. Demos:

Food is nearly right behind Seven here, though I will probably whip some of that away.

I wouldn't call 194 vs 241 nearly behind. lol

Maybe he meant MFG? He's only down 6 there.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

T75 - now with 35% more fatalism!

Apparently wonder movies got turned back on somehow. Yeah I don't know either.

Yay? Major renovations going on at the capital. Our citizens describe the Gardens as "pretty fricken cool," and in order to teach them more advanced words, we've installed an Academy:

Yuris is still nagging with his longbow:

I sunk some hammers into military to whip if need be, but I'd prefer to expend the whip on the TP. We'll see if he moves in further. If he does, he'll get choked by ocean in return. Demos:

Wait, what's that GNP? And how did Seven's MFG hit the stratosphere? Wait...

So like... hahaha we're screwed. Seriously, look at that scoreboard. Yuris is in a GA right now too I think, but that hasn't been nearly as noticeable. Anyways, this game is basically Seven running away, Pindicator and I fighting for 2nd, then Yuris + Dazed fighting to be Not Last.

What's everyone got against wonder movies? Everyone's in such a hurry.
