Right. They're the most cost effective IP per rune, but when you get to lv30 all you want it tier 3s so the tier 1s go to waste.
A few of them will convert into useful Tier3s due to recombinations, but I felt serious remorse once I hit Lv30 about getting Tier 1 runes. Again, probably just personal opinion.

When you consider the amount of IP needed to get the runes for multiple rune pages, sometimes you want to start saving straight away. A full set of runes for support costs 5235 IP just for the armour yellows, MR blues and gp10 quints, for instance. The set for AP and AD carries comes out at over 10K just because of reusing the runes, for instance MR blues, but the rest you kinda need completely different rune set ups anyway. And if you want to buy champs with IP when you start...

There was a thread I have bookmarked on my other computer about the total number of IP you'll accumulate over your growth to lv30 and how you can fill 2-3 Pages and get a decent set of intro champs. I'll try to remember to post it later. Dunno how much the IP gains have changed over time though and rune prices have changed up.

Is anyone else watching the NA qualifiers? Absolutely crazy game 2 for CLG vs Lgn. Both sides playing really well as well, it wasn't like they were both dieing to stupid things over and over to prolong the game either.

Explain to me again why League Replays has already done all the work and Riot won't incorporate their awesome into their game?

League Replay figured out a way to spectate any game through their site.
Plus give you intro info like the ELO and such before you launch.
