What happened to Parkinstein anyway and what would the responsibilities entail?

LP is deep in PhD work right now, so I'm not sure when he will resurface from academia.
As for responsibilities? Beats me, depends on energy (aka how much you are willing to do for us), ability to delegate and organise (aka how good you are at drafting and keeping minions), and so on.
The urgent thing was of course to keep our diplo e-mail covered at all time. We won't necessarily see contact in-game at once. But that's covered now.
What I think we need relatively soon is some more structured way to collect our info on the other teams. Input would come from diplomatic dealings, C&D, what we can tell from earlier games, and civstats (login patterns). Right now it's spread all over our threads, and that's great for discussion but a pain to sift through.

Contact!
Quote:Greetings to Team RB from Team CFC
We are happy to make first contact with your team, and we are also happy to see that we are neighbours, as we consider you one of the strongest teams in the game. You are the first team we have met, and for now the only team we have contact with.
There was some harsh words between some of our team members in the preliminary planning of the ISDG, but that will not effect our attitude towards your team at all in this game. The planning of a game on the scale of the ISDG is expected to have some heated discussions, especially between the more experienced players. To get off on the right foot, we would like to propose a simple NAP until turn 100, to establish goodwill between our teams. This will give us ample time to build up trust and more formal agreements on going forward.
Finally, to get relations going in the right direction, we would like to hear if your team has any preliminary thoughts on setting a border between our teams.
We will follow up in a few days with some info sharing once this is discussed within the team.

I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

100 turn NAP right off the bat? Um, interesting. They sound terrified that we might be their neighbors. This is a good thing.
Also, serious bummer to already hear settling agreement. We don't even know where they are at! I'd start with that first before we can even think about settling agreement.

From turn discussion:
I would say No NAP, but we have such a fragile micro and defense.
I would say No NAP, but a NAP lets the stronger players race ahead.
I would say No NAP, but we need to get inside CFC's head and diplo plans.
Any chance we settle for a shorter than 100 turn NAP?

It's until turn 100, so it's a ~70 turn NAP. Clearly we should ask them whether changing another's civics is a violation of a NAP.
NAP is probably good. Settling agreement is bullshit.

Was just about to post the message, but looks like Ruff_Hi got to it first.
Still very busy, sorry I've been so absent. Looks like you guys are doing a fine job anyway.

I would respond with something warm and receptive (gently agreeing that the pregame stuff is done), but push for more info on where they're coming from and all that before agreeing to anything. That long of a NAP is way too much flying blind. A short-term NAP with the option to push it longterm after we talk some more would be nice. We don't want them screwing with our micro plan though so some expedience would be good.

I assume someone will log in and grab a screenshot of where they met us?
Our immediate concern is of course whether they can be massively irritating with their presumed warrior. After that is taken care of we can start to consider other information exchange and agreements.

Do we have any general idea of what they've been up to from the C&D department?
