[SPOILERS] scooter, pindicator, and Huayna Capac try some fast Zulu cuisine

Well, if we delay any we may as well just stay and scout out Commodore's side. Reason being that half the reason to trek across the island to our side is to beat Commodore to any huts that may be north of us. If we delay we won't have that option and wasting 10 turns to shuttle across the island looks less appealing.

Moving NE-SE does not delay our movement back eastward. scooter meant that it would delay a decision to scout the north of Commodore. It does not delay a decision to scout north of us.

Ah, I thought he meant to go NE-NE. NE-SE is good by me.

Edit: Logged in and made that move. We also have graphs on Commodore and he has not built a warrior yet. His power has stayed the same since he settled his city.

Contacts first.

Ducked in to view the new turn but didn't move anything. No scout appeared up north. Also peeked at the graphs and Comm should be growing to size 2 soon. He's been on the same crop yield for the first 18 turns. Still no warrior, but he likely went worker first.

I'll pop into the game in a couple hours and take a look. I'd like to have a good look around before further deciding what to do with our scout.

To me, this is just a question of what we value most - making contacts, popping huts, or Commodore visibility. Directly north of our scout seems like the fastest bet to making more contacts. Directly north of our capital seems like the best bet for huts that nobody can steal. Scouting around Commodore is obviously there if we find that important.

Out of those three, I place the greatest value on making contacts. It helps us figure out who is where, it helps us keep track of players who are doing good/bad, it helps us know where to defog for foreign trade routes, etc. Huts are a nice thing, but not really game-breaking since they're toned down a bit here. So that priority is what causes me to lean towards heading north, even if it means we're behind Commodore's scout. Also, I don't find heading north of our cap to be a sure thing. Yeah we can technically beat Commodore through there, but who is to say we won't get attacked by an animal in the meantime. Even if we survive, the woundedness may force us to heal.

That's my thought process right now. I guess I don't highly value scouting around Commodore. I figure that can be done later, much like backline cities can be settled after priority ones get settled.

There's no point in scouting around Commodore right now if we can't defog his cap IMO. Anything else is fine with me.

Part of the reason I'm advocating north of Commodore is because even if you're right, no serious harm done. Possibilities:

1) North of Commodore grows back into main continent. This means we make some contacts, maybe even get a hut if we're lucky (depends on how wide the land becomes). If this is the case, going north is good.

2) North of Commodore turns into a dead end pretty quickly. We don't make contacts and it takes longer for us to get back. However, we now have confirmation that Commodore will be aggressive with us due to lack of land to expand into.

I think ditching our best chance to confirm the land or lack thereof north of Commodore would be a mistake. Even if we make it back AND get all the huts/etc north of our capital, the uncertainty of whether or not Commodore is boxed in could cause us to make bad decisions.

Alright, that's my case for going north smile. Open to other thoughts.
