These are really really good news for us hammer

Germans have lost already a bunch of hammers and WPC has "only" got two workers, but they have paid already in advance since they have invested in an army. Moreover, I would be surprised if we would see this war ending without significant losses from WPC side too..

Well, it's not good new to see WPC get a return on their investment. wink And I think an immediate peace treaty would be a likely outcome too. But seeing our neighbours' armies occupied elsewhere is nevertheless great news.

It also means the Germans will be looking for revenge on WPC (and WPC will be forced to build extra defense). We might be able to use that later on as well if we want to drag the Germans into war with us against WPC.

I dunno, losing a city is pretty big. The Germans might be pissed off and go for immediate counterattack rather than agreeing to peace. And WPC may push for more gains given how easily the city fell.

The Germans did abandon the city to preserve their units and to muster up a counterattack, so the best of both worlds. WPC commit, Germans slaughter them, forcing WPC to undergo another round of whips.

And with an autorazed city, no need to worry about our opponents gaining land!

Do you know that for a fact?

For what it's worth, WPC has only performed the one whip in the whole game, and it was on T63. Heck, they hardly have any cities to whip, since they're at sizes 6-4-1-1 or 5-5-1-1.

From what we can read in the numbers (soldier and WW), WPC killed two German units plus captured two workers. At the cost of one unit. That does not look like a strategic withdrawal of the Germans and an imminent counterattack.

It looks more like both WPC (Huron City) and the Germans (Wilhelmshaven) settled right next to each other and the German units are stretched thin with Military Police and Scouting like everybody else and got surprised.

We should check with the Germans to confirm that via diplomacy, probably.

No, the Germans lost a single warrior (decrease of 2k in power during WPC T70), killed a WPC warrior during their T70, and then WPC walked into an empty city on T71.

Agreed. From my reading of the map and culture up north, Wismar and Huron River are a comfortable distance apart (5E2N), but Wilhelmshaven must have been quite a tight fit.

Right on the warriors, but the war weariness only fits if WPC captured those two units on T70, as SevenSpirits pointed out.

So hammer losses for the Germans:
100h a city (i.e. settler)
96h two expansive workers
15h a warrior
----
211h
===

vs.
Losses for WPC
15h warrior
===

That is very nice for WPC and a big blow to the Germans.

Yeah, I didn't mention the workers there. I probably should set up a post in the dossier keeping track of what's happening.

But right now WPC has come out firmly on top, but they haven't really gained anything but two workers and the city pillage gold (probably only a pittance given a size 1 city founded 6t ago).
