@sunrise:

Well, a good clan helps if you want to learn some stuff wink . Still I'm not sure if my rank really says something - after all I have not played a lot of games yet, roughly 200 is not much... So I don't think you have to worry about a strong performance by me, I'm "not that good" either tongue smile ...

Wait, how many people are interested in playing? eek lol

In all seriousness, I have some ideas on how to accomodate 10+ players in some hopefully interesting map designs. When sunrise has a finalized player list, I'll get back to everyone in this thread with some setup questions.

Sunrise, you forget my name. I am in as well.

I'm up for a pitboss game as well. I get back home on the 3rd or 4th of July, so I'd only need to use Hamachi until then; might need it again if I'm still alive come mid september, but all bets are off for my future plans come that time.

Q: Choose civs? Allow duplicates?

Also the diplogames, which have the aim of keeping everyone alive for the entire game occasionally end.

EDIT: If we are playing as pairs I can grab a partner easily. I don't think that we should force anyone to pair up if they don't want to, but groups of 2 (maybe 3 at a push) would make this a very interesting version of a demogame IMO.

Dantski, kalin, and Broker33 are the only players that previously signified interest in a PBEM or Pitboss game that have not confirmed. I'd like to give them another day or so and then consider the list of players closed so we can let Sullla begin work on a map. In the meantime I'm going to get some parts together than try to have my second PC up and running this week.

I think that pairs is a good idea, especially for those who are also looking to learn. On top of that, there must be more than just Dreylin, dsplaisted and I who will have a length of absence over the summer.

A sub to cover a lengthy absence seems a whole lot simpler than turning it into a pairs game? My main problem with pairs is that I'm not going to have time to communicate and discuss and reach concensus, especially with sub-24-hour turn-sets.

Yep, what shadyforce said.
I am sure we can find subs for our times of absence.

The problem is, subs who haven't lurked any game threads?

Well I really don't see what the problem would be with some civs being single-player, and some being a pair - if it's seen as that big of an advantage, why wouldn't people want to be part of a pair?

But if people have strong opinions against a multiple people playing a single Civ, how about paired teams of Civs? Using Permanent Alliances you would have the collaboration and the back-up of a sub, without having to come to a complete consensus on every move.
