Trolls drafted / 1-pop whipped five more times on their turn. Hopefully they're too far away from the front lines to be able to reinforce WIFOM in time. Or if they were triremes, hopefully they can't get in position to block our naval advance.

HAK has some bad news
Our daring scouting raid doesn't see any evidence of massive defences as yet, but as they have engineering they can hide on this tile, just out of view. Our worker spies can investigate next turn. I've also drafted a chariot into the spying cadre. I hope Trolls don't close borders with us on the turn roll...
It looks like they've set up quite a neat defense network - if we had two commando knights they couldn't get past the network and get enough hits on WIFOM to take the city. Of course we're not quite at Military science yet, so this is a bit overkill... Note also the 60% cultural defenses. I'm really not sure why they built walls?

Not much going on on the domestic front - foil now has 34 turns of whip unhappy, while Halberd has 37!
I had hoped to whip a knight out of Jemmy this turn, but it isn't big enough for the 3-pop whip that's needed. I thought I'd microed it so that a 2-pop whip would be enough (15 hammers + 60*1.25=75 hammers = 90 hammers!) any ideas why that isn't true? Does slavery need to be over the cost of the item? This is especially annoying as the overflow from the knight could have completed a longbow next turn.
Instead I'll finish the longbow this turn.
The units we put on the t141 tile next turn will be:
6 cats
11 Zerks
1 Pike (I spent 95 gold to upgrade a spear - expensive, but I think we need one at least)
8 Knights
2 Chariots (is there any point sending these guys in? They're only useful for attacking axes, which I don't think Trolls have any of...)
The units in the water now are
3 Triremes (2 others on their way)
8 Galleys (3 of which are empty and so can attack without worry)
10 Zerks
Troll power is closing on us very quickly. I hope we can hit them before they get it all into place...
We'll probably be playing the attack on Friday.

I could take a look on the folder! I checked on the knight issue and can't see the reason for not being able to whip the knight. You had those 15 hammers sitting there already right?

I think T-Hawk has given us the answer over in the main forum (I don't think I gave anything away even if they read the spoilers).
Also I just logged in to have a quick look around during Trolls' turn and the first thing I spot is a scout sitting on a hill! I think he's been sitting in M3 territory and so has come down the route marked in red (they have engineering)
I was about to log out when I noticed something else - the Chariot we'd spotted on the gold mine last turn is sitting in Epee. So it must have taken one of these paths:
So our stack of knights and chariots has remained hidden! Of course they still drafted and whipped 8 times, so perhaps they went for anti-melee units, but we're still going to be facing a big force...

So when do you want us on so we can play the turn together? I have class from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM CDT, but after that I should be available--for reference, turn is slated to roll at about 9:40 PM CDT based on CivStats. I may be around at around 9:00 AM if I get up early enough, but I wouldn't rely on that :/

I could play through the domestic stuff around about 0900 CDT / 1400 GMT and if you guys can both ping me on Gchat we can look over the strategic stuff.
If you can't we can wait until 1600 CDT / 2100 GMT...

Turn 141 part one
So I logged in a few minutes before 1400 to see what domestic stuff needs doing to be greeted by TEAM offering 290 gold. Yes please! Do we use it for upgrades or to get to optics for caravels and naval domination?
First thing to note - Trolls did delete their spies...
Then while I was going through the domestic stuff Plako interrupted and I was a little worried he'd log in and close borders as I wasn't sounding too keen on a deal so I got the scouts in position. We don't know much about Bloody Mary, as there could be stuff in the fog to the north:
This is their staging post, featuring nine maces:
And the stuff around WIFOM is pretty light.
The first bit of good news is I didn't see any catapults, the bad news is we'll have to kill at least ten maces and a spear to take WIFOM. The second bit is that if we draw the staging force to WIFOM we could perhaps take Bloody Mary with five or six Knights. The third bit is that they didn't put any triremes on the pinch-point I was worried about, so we can almost certainly hit On the Rocks this turn...
Finally there is nothing to stop us putting knights on the "possible knight staging" tile this turn or next turn, to force them to reinforce WIFOM fast.
