HAK, could you explain a bit more why you would like the Hanging Gardens so much? Most of us seem rather dubious. Old Harry's cost-benefit analysis is particularly compelling. I'm always open to having my mind changed, but I'll need numbers first! smile

The Hanging Gardens is undoubtedly a good wonder, if timed right. ie if you build it one turn before your rival wink. The cost-benefit I did didn't take into account that converting those hammers into pop so early in the game gets the snowball going quicker. I guess you could instead look at it as a 3-pop whip and ~6 forests which could instead become about five workers from you or 6 settlers from THH, so if it's getting you more than six pop maybe it is useful. Oh, why can't I make my mind up if it's worth it? banghead

So the question is (presuming you'll whip the aqueduct then chop the wonder) how many turns from now can it be done? And how many turns from now should it be done? You really need to be overflowing and chopping enough that you 1-turn the gardens so you have the opportunity not to build the aqueduct if someone else beats you to it as you don't get failgold for aqueducts. So what's your plan HAK? And how many settlers can you have out by then THH? whip

THH, how many turns to re-grow Verriers to size 5 after a 2-pop whip? How many to size 4? And how much whip-unhappy do you currently have? I'd be inclined to whip earlier (so that you can whip again sooner) put overflow into a settler, spend a turn or two into a chariot, grow, switch back to the settler and either have a maths-chop arrive or whip. Then overflow into the next settler, grow on the chariot, switch back, etc...

crazyeye I can't answer these questions right now. Exams are killing me. In fact, HAK, would you be able to play my turn when we come up? Workers from north to south: mine, we need to decide* (gems), cottage riverside grassland. Builds and tiles: as they are, unless we decide on a two-pop whip in Verrieres Ridge, in which case do that. Scout: patrol neutral zone between us and Commodore. Scouting warrior: northeast-ish, clear last bit of fog in south. Warrior on gems: 1NW if safe. Other warriors: stay in place.

* if nothing decided, road riverside plains 1SW of VR and cancel.

I was about to play THH's turn for him again since I know he's busy with exams and stuff, and realized we didn't discuss where we are sending his first settler that came out this turn. So I suppose I'm not going to finish his turn now, so will do so in the morning.

Need input though. Should I sent it over to my Copper city spot, or should we use it for one of his cities, and the next settler he produces goes to one of his spots? Also, we need some more discussion on what to do with his workers. I have to do something else real fast right now, but I'll put up a post with a screenshot showing the area in a bit before I go to sleep.

Here are the screenshots of some of the areas we see:

So I think his current settler should heat over to my City #4. It shows 3 turns, but that worker in the north will have that forest chopped in 2 turns. (though if we can't finish Math in 2 turns before the chop finishes...which I'm pretty sure we can...then we would have to hold off a turn on completing the chop)

Here we get visibility on one of LAM's eastern cities.

And here we see that my scout will be reaching Seven's borders next turn.

I'm also going to switch Mt Loon over to a Worker next turn. We need more of those ultra fast, and it can make one in 3 turns and in that time my whip unhappy will wear off and I can grow again while making the Library.

HAK, it's okay, I wrote my last exam today. Thanks for playing for me last turn! But yes, we do need to decide where to send that settler. I meant to table that but forgot.

Settler for HAK #4 sounds good. I think we need to re-do the dotmap with the new map knowledge in mind.

Building a library sounds very early - I'd keep building units and workers at this point HAK.

Yeah, I realized that about the library too after I'd put a turn of production into it thinking that if not a worker I should have put some into a Dog. Though I do still think a Library in my capital this early is not a bad idea, so will probably put turns into it here and there between Workers & Dogs some of the times when I need to regrow.

Don't have time to re-take the pics for the dotmap this morning, so will do so tonight. Unless you want to log in to do so. That might be easiest.
THH should probably do his next city somewhere in his west, though I believe we had already planned on doing that.

Oh, and someone got themselves a Great Scientist this turn:
