I'll peek into the game tonight (i hope), but initial impression is we need to get Joao a bigger base. 3 cities is too few, imo
I also want to look at GP production - guessing that a prophet, merch, or eng would all be good first GPs for us

Disagree as Darius cities both cost less and make more economy. We will be expanding Joao out towards the ocean anyway. Joao is doing its job building settlers and workers.

I agree that's Joao's job, but we can use more of both - hense wanting more Joao cities. Later on (maybe even sooner than later) i think Joao should switch to caste and start our GP production as well. Or start a wonder, but that's a more off-the-wall idea*.
I don't think Joao should ever have as many cities as Darius, but 3 is too few. I'd like to see him go to 5 after CoL comes in to accelerate settler/worker production and to start with GP generation. (Since Darius is FIN it makes more sense to have Joao handle GPs.)
GP production: what do we want from our first GP? Since our techer is going wide, a scientist is less impactful than a traditional setup. What do we think of Joao eyeing a future switch to caste and settling a GP-focused city with our next settler?
I think either a merchant (currency or metal casting bulb) or an artist (culture bomb the north) could be good uses of caste. And if Joao is settling production focused cities he'll be less dependent on whipping, so better able to use caste.
Friendly reminder: Make sure Joao gets the holy city when CoL finishes.
*Off-the-wall idea: Build ToA for GP generation. We have marble, so the cost isn't much more than Great Lighthouse. A prophet would be perfect for a shrine and and a merchant would be great for bulbing Currency or Metal Casting. May not be worth the hammers needed, especially since caste would get a GP faster (but no chance at a prophet with caste ).

Well, a culture-bombing Artist might be nice, or for a Monarchy bulb. Also, need axes.

I will quietly remind everyone that if we duel SMack, winner still probably can beat the others.

I suggest we shred them. Choking swarms of flies must arise from their meaty remains, the charnel house reek of their butchered homes rising to the sky to blot out the very sun. The gods themselves must vomit when they see the horror we have wreaked upon them. They pink dotted us.
