Representation . Free market is better than Mercantilism at least as long as I can keep OB with rest of the world.
Concerening the interanl trade routes and the question I raised earlier, it seems the base commerce value is dependant on the distance. I.e. there really wasn't any probem there.
Just a curiosity. I'm last one to get Engineering . Way back I got an event that gave little beakers + 50% chance to get more, in case I'd be willing to pay for this lottery. I took it then and that gave me a head start of ~400 beakers for the tech.
Pindicooter asked for 100 gold, but I couldn't give that because of using all of my gold last turn.
Concerning techs I'll reserach cheap techs of Engineering and Gunpowder next. I'll also try to get spies spread around. I'll try to steal at least Printing Press from Commodore and Chemistry from Cheetach (after he has finished it). Espionage slider will be used after I've spies in position. I'll also spread Confu to Commodore and possibly also to Serdoa to make stealing cheaper. If they start running counter espionage I'll probably use the gold for Science slider instead. I'll evaluate the cheapest way case-by-case. Getting visibility and cheaper espionage missions is also worth quite a bit so it might make sense to use the stealing instead of normal research, even if in direct commerce wise comparison to manual research would be better.

Yeah, the base value is the minimum of pop/10 and distance/10, but never less than 1.0. So a size 20 city is only worth 2.0 base value for cities 20 or more tiles away.
Commodore has yet again changed his mind. Now going for Frigates. Serdoa is seroius contender of being in Communism 1st and probably adopts also this new Environementalism that is quite good for specialist economies.
It is not going well for Cheetach. Pindicooter razed one of his cities and have pillaged at least 1 sea food tile and seem to put pressure on sea towards him. I had to really think if I would want to join the fun. I don't heave enough galleons for the moment and Chemistry would be very useful in case of war, but it is not nescessarily that far away.
Closer inspection to few cities. If there is intrest, I can go through all of my cities over the coming few turns.
Former Arabian capital. Has whopping 5 food resources around it. Goal here is to grow to size 18. That makes all off-shore internal trade routes worth 4 commerce (+1 if in Free Market), if they're far enough as I did learn from Novice.
Moai. Currently my 3rd best city. This was well placed. Might make sense to workshop those grassland tiles at some point.
Capital. Very good city having now 100% gold and 220% Science multipliers and nice amount of cottages and few hills to build things up. I'm considering whether growing this a size or 2 would make sense to be able to hire extra Scientists.
National Epic. I yet again made the mistake of building Epic on cottage city. It spams 1 missionary and then grows to size 15. There is another city giving me my next GP after which this will start running as Spy and as many Merchants as possible. Great city, but National Epic is in totally wrong place. Might need to bulldoze some of those cottages and place farms instead.
Next Great person is coming form here. After that it will steal most of cottages from National Epic city.
Jungle heaven and my 2nd best Commerce city. This has required lots of worker love, but very powerful city.
Heroic Epic. Can't really grow it before Biology. Replaceable parts and Railroad will boost those mines to avery powerful tiles so I'm happy enough about this city.
City that I planted long time ago to block Arabia. Pretty decent city, even if it doesn't have a single food resource.
