There is some truth in it. Back in the german - WPC conflict we favored the WPC side mostly because they played promptly. Along with other factors this led to us agreeing to side more forcefully with WPC in the future.

I'll never understand how it is that some of you guys seem to have forgiven the German team dragging turns out to 3+ days (of your real life) while wanting to Leeroy Jenkins the CFC Diplomacy. By pages of the Rant thread, that was a much bigger deal than CFC Marble BS.

PS. Are we or WPC going to initiate the war declaration? It might impact perception on whether or not the world sees us as passive opportunists or active warmongers. We might want to consistently say something along the lines of "WPC asked us to help" when people come along and ask us about the war. It might keep the neighbor less on edge and delay any CoW by a little bit. bang Every little bit helps.

I'm guessing recency bias + confirmation bias. Also, CFC simply matters more in this game and we have more contact with them in general. IMO, it's more annoying for a neighbor to act callously then for a stranger to do so. At least, that's why I'm more annoyed with CFC.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

I was thinking that if we NAP with WPC, we should consider a mutual defense pact of sorts. My thinking is that we won't want CFC taking WPC. The Spanish are clearly a more clear target for CFC, but if we NAP CFC then they could attack WPC and there may be nothing we could do. Something to keep in mind when discussing a NAP with CFC. WPC would not amount much to anything, but could serve as a buffer and a distraction in case of war.

CFC and WPC don't really have a shared border at this point. Can't imagine CFC would invade WPC before a better target like Spanish Apolyton.

CFC and WPC don't have borders touching but they are adjacent... The reason for them attacking WPC would be to stop us from doing it. While it's probably unlikely, I would still want to ask if we should consider protecting WPC at least for some time if we can.
