[SPOILERS]The Tyrant realizes that once the world burns it gets really boring....

T15 - Scout healed, moved S/W safely onto a hill. Looks like the SE diagonal into Sisu's capital is blocked by a forest too. Do you guys want to continue walking around his city hoping to get a look at the center tile or just keep heading east? If we keep circling we go S/SW next turn. If we head east I think we either move E/E onto the forest (no risk) or 1 SE and stop, moving onto the hill the next turn and hoping for no animals. Or whatever you guys think.

Rival best power doubled to 12,000. That coincides with WilliamLP's score increase on the interturn. What early tech gives +6000 to power? It isn't BW, his Arabia started Mysticism/Wheel. Rival average GNP dropped by 1, so it may have been a tech with a discount, meaning something that follows after Myst/Wheel and grants 6,000 (or less + a warrior build) to power.

Can someone dig up a list with techs and their power numbers and solve this? I need to play PB8 and go to work. cry

I can get you a list when i get home from work but IIRC Archery is a 6k tech. It could also be a combination of units and tech.

Thanks for the info guys. Since WilliamLP is still size 1, that's zero soldier points for population, leaving 6k to account for. Starting with The Wheel for 4,000 and teching Hunting (2,000) + Archery (6,000) would get him to 12,000 soldier points. If he has built a warrior, though, that would add another 1,000 but my assumption is that since he is still size 1 he went worker first, so no warrior. The question here is if he could have finished Hunting and Archery by now. I don't have the tech cost for Archery in front of me and it wasn't in my earlier F6 screenshot because I didn't assume we'd go for it this early. WilliamLP doesn't have Mining, Agriculture, or Fishing if he has gone Hunting/Archery straight off, but without seeing his land I can't say if that's good or bad. Maybe he only needs to build camps. smile

There are alternate explanations for this I'm sure, but this one seems the most straightforward assuming he has accumulated enough beakers to finish both of these techs already.

I played T16 last night quickly, I have family staying over so I didn't take time to take a screenshot, but we met Suttree on T16 in the land just to the SE of Sisu's capital. We may be his first contact, we should know this turn if he runs 4 EPs against us (assuming he didn't adjust his allocation like I did -- I targeted all EPs against Sisu to keep up with him and get us closer to graphs of our closest neighbor). That will give away to Suttree that we have met someone else, if he has not yet met Sisu himself. But he'll surely spot Sisu's borders soon if he has not already.

It looks like he approached from the south, so we should probably head that direction if we want to find his city. Otherwise we can keep exploring to the east.

Nice city location there on the highlighted green tile. We'll follow this river to the southeast.

We finally have a decent tile to grow on. Worker moves south next turn to road. I asked Brick to move our micro plan to the first post for easy reference. suttree has put espionage on us the previous two turns, 8/0, so we're his first contact. We're still 32/32 with Sisu. Two more turns for graphs there, then we can swap.

I haven't seen the demos in a while, but I don't much mind. One thing that interests me, if WilliamLP has indeed opened Hunting/Archery, that's a neighbor I want to have. devil

Well, as long as he doesn't send a swarm of archers at us when we can only build warriors and scouts. nope

SE down the river sounds good to me. SE/E next turn to maximize our scout's chances of survival in case there is a non-bear animal in the adjacent tiles. Of course we'll probably end up bear food anyway....

It looks like SE/E sets up SE onto an open tile, then whatever beyond that depending on what we see. Sounds good.

As for a swarm of archers before we can get to BW... smoke If I die to that, so be it. That civ will die to the next civ to come along. I'm playing to win, not to not lose.

Alright, I'm out of town for the weekend, probably until Monday evening. #1, you have the bridge. Also, don't worry about covering turns for 49. They've decided to capitulate to me...

T21 - Here's the current scout map, with the next two turns plotted in. I only want to move one space next turn to prevent an untimely demise, especially since it look like we won't benefit from moving right next to a bunch of 2 movement point cost tiles anyway.

Warrior move at the capital and the worker completing a road while waiting on AH.

Note that there is some theoretical risk to where our warrior is positioned. If Sisu has a warrior on the tile 3E of our warrior we'd be in a race back to the capital, which would mean we'd have to waste two turns of production to build a second warrior (or double move). To prevent the double move being necessary, I'll try to play the turn early (before Sisu) and if he shows a warrior out of the fog on our capital's diagonal at some point next turn I'd declare war to grab the first half of the timer as soon as the next turn rolled around. Seems like a lot to worry about but I think our local scouting is going to be abysmal for a while so I wanted to have a look this turn at the nearby land. Nothing to crow about here yet, that's all jungle and no fresh water around. We have one river tile in our territory nearby, while Sisu has two river systems in what is likely to be his sphere of land. PITA.

We got Sisu's graphs this turn and I switched our EPs over to Suttree. Mostly it's all boring early game graphs and if you guys log into the game feel free to extrapolate, but I think we can safely pencil in Bronze Working for Sisu's first tech:

That looks like about a 8,000 power jump all at once. Our power is up 5,000 since the start of the game (2k for Hunting, 2k for a warrior, and 1k for growth to pop 2), and looks to be about 4,000 behind Sisu. I think he'd have a warrior by now but now that I think of it, looking at this graph, he can't have a warrior on the tile 3SE of our capital since he didn't (possibly) build the warrior until recently, according to this graph, and it's an 11 tile walk to that tile from his capital. So no, we're safe from Sisu killing us right now. Now if the map threw down copper at his capital.... cry

Here is proof that Sisu hasn't built a warrior yet:

Rival best power is 13,000, which will be Sisu with BW (8k), Hunting (2k), Mining (2k) and a size 2 capital (1k). There's no room for a warrior build (+2,000, for 15,000 total). So with that in mind, should we send our warrior off to explore the local area around the capital a bit more? How risk averse are we here? And the nice thing, obviously, about all of this is that BW is our next tech target and we're going to pick up a small known tech discount. So what, we'll save five beakers? lol Discount is 3% per rival who knows the tech, right? Plus a lot of other smaller variables that I'm choosing to ignore/don't remember/don't know. So 193 tech cost * 0.97 = truncate(187.21) 187 is the new cost? So we save 6 beakers? Something like that? I'm not looking to go nuts figuring out tech costs, I should end this post and go to bed. Unless someone reading can (tersely!) drop in a formula here for us. shades
