I took a peek when I saw that civstats showed another city lost, so I logged in and thankfully he took Arctic Circle instead of something hurtful. Took the peace he had offered as well, which I'm not sure was best but it gives me an idea for how to play it in 10 turns. Because really all we've lost this war are two marginal cities that we had invested nothing into.

Anyway, in 10 turns I think we act like we're going to attack and retake Qdoba & Arctic CIrcle. Move empty galleons near them in a "sloppy" manner so he thinks we're going to attack north and south to retake those cities. Then race the main fleet across the narrow sea and make for his mainland.

Scooter, I will be able to get to the game in about 6 hours... I think. Need to get packed and get my brother to the airport. And the rest of the family is talking about coming along to see him off, so if that happens it may take longer before I can get into the game. Sorry, I haven't been able to put hardly any time into this over the weekend, so I haven't been able to crunch numbers on how many knights I think we can produce.

Commodore taking crappy cities makes me think he's planning on coming back at the end of the enforced peace. So do we fight his armies, or try to land our units and attack/pillage his cities? It may end up being futile either way, especially if he decides to put his entire strength against us. This game has been funny like that: we decide to attack a person in X turns, and they attack us first.

Anyway, I'm sorry about being critical earlier. I've been having a lot of fun with the underdog nature of this game, but I've been wanting to be exact with these military matters because I know our margin for error is so much smaller than the civs we are going up against. Sorry if I got too exacting lately.

Hey no problem. I think we're both thinking two different things, and we haven't been able to connect via chat last few days. Unfortunate timing. I started the turn, but I didn't finish it. Hopefully we can connect up on chat tonight, but I'll be pretty hit and miss rest of the day/night with general holiday stuff. I'll leave chat open on my phone.

Timer was pretty low when i got home so I played the turn. Nothing drastic - i whipped in places where we could 2-pop whip builds, and i think I was only whipping off of hammer tiles each time so no commerce lost.

We need to pop borders down by rheims and the new city - that was what I had built the hindu missionaries for, but i'm not quite sure where they ended up being used. Anyway, probably easier to just swap to caste with the next GA and use an artist at each spot to pop borders.

Didn't see you on any yesterday, and we're going to be near last to play again. Slowcheetah refounded Orleans, and he did it one tile west of Orleans ruins -- possibly because the settler was moved in a way that let him see it last turn. smoke
I don't know if we even want to settle it now - that wheat is first ring for him and he's creative. There really isn't going to be a way where we win culture over it.

We've got Commodore frigates on our west coast. I think the most likely way we get through is to not let him see our galleon stack ahead of time and pick a spot and rush for it. We'll want a few empty galleons to take up frigate hits.

Suggested Whips:
Grocer at Culver's (1 pop, whips off an ocean tile)
Knight at DQ (2 pop)
Ikhanda at Starbucks (2 pop) -- or swap off it for more galleons

Honestly, I'm pretty low on time to play turns given some general life busy-ness - I was well away from home and without cell reception when your email came through last night FYI - didn't see it til several hours later. Also ISDG is pretty involved right now too (though that's easier as I don't have to be on a civ-capable computer to do my part there). It's resulting in a lot of mistakes when I do play turns. I don't know how you feel - I don't want to put you on pressure to bear the bulk of the turn playing, but I also don't want you stuck with my mistakes when I'm obviously lacking the time to play the turns at a high enough level.

So what I'm saying is, if you'd prefer to be full-on primary player for the next couple weeks while I scale back to more of a "involved ded-lurker" than full player, that's definitely fine with me. Just let me know what your preference is. Things should settle down in about 2 weeks for me. Should. smile
