Steam Summer Sale begins tomorrow. Advice for new buyers: Daily deals and flash deals are the cheapest you will get a single game. If you are going to buy a particular game, it's wise to wait until they go on a daily or a flash deal for the biggest discount. And if they never do, then buy them on the last day for the regular discount.

Dark Souls for PC. Only $7.50 on steam (75% off) for the next 7 hours. http://store.steampowered.com/app/211420/

I wrote a longer review of it here: http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showthread.php?tid=5539

It is my favorite RPG-like game in terms of mechanics, especially combat and exploration. I haven't found anything else that compares. Story is lacking but the background lore of the world is not.

I wrote that review in october. I'm still playing the game occasionally, currently doing a hardcore run (trying to get through the whole game without dying). I know there will be tons of deals with the steam summer sale, but I'm mentioning this (again) because it's become my favorite PC game other than Civ IV.

P.S if you get it and want some non-spoilery tips to get going, I would be delighted to oblige.

I think I'll buy the game and put it into my "I'll play it when I have a better computer" list. lol

By the way, bastion is 85% off on the Steam Sale. I never played the game, but I've heard it's pretty good. And 85% is really a big discount.

Yeah, Bastion is worth buying. I bought Dark Souls but couldn't get into it really - it's too dark (thematically and visually, not morally) for my tastes I guess.

You mean you didn't like the fact that you're kind of a zombie and everyone has a weird laugh?

Sorry to hear it.

I recommend bastion too.

I already grabbed Dark Souls at an earlier sale, but from what I've heard so far the technical quality of the port to PC is supposed to be pretty terrible and the game needs to be modded.
What do you think about that? Do you use mods? If yes, which ones and are these difficult to install?

I've discovered a policy of Steam's that I can't decide if I love or hate. If one of my wishlisted games goes on sale, they send me an e-mail.

On the one hand, that means I'm not buying anything straight up anymore, just wishlist and wait. On the other - they're now 2 for 2 in e-mail = purchase.
