[SPOILERS] There Can Only Be One Suttree - French Fredrick - LOL, Sut?

I guess Oxy didn't have any reserve for Panem beyond a single chariot, so he killed my decoy chariot (95%) and after a lucky (24%) attack on my forking axe, offered Ember for peace. I get a city and time to stabilize off Oxy's coast, and he gets some nice promotions on his victorious axe. Everybody's happy!
Chop time.
Played my turn right after waking and could barely remember what happened, so logged in to check things out. Sisu decided to move a chariot right up to my worker swarm roading/chopping Oxy's old city of Ember, now Cades Cove. I'm not really sure what he expected me to do.... In any case, chariot is dead and I offered 10 turns peace to Sisu. We'll see how the turn plays out and I'll post pictures next turn. If Sisu takes the peace, I'm going to ask Sisu and Oxy if I can move back to the first half of the turn split. Waiting on others to play is a pain.
Hmmm made a post at work, but I'm guessing I just left it at preview...
Briefly, Sisu accepted peace. Trading seafood with Boldly. PM'd Oxy/Sisu to ask permission to move to play first in the turn order. Had some time to think about the future, and came up with a plan: Research: Currency->HBR->Archery Great People: Great Artist(t106), Great Merchant(t108), Great Scientist (t118) SCREENSHOTS: DEMOS: OVERVIEW Kicked off the golden age this turn, so I guess it's time to do a t100 summary or somesuch. I'll wait until the end of the GA to do a city review, as most of my cities are in odd configurations. I take the barbarian city to my northwest next turn and settle the Moai island t103, putting me at 12 cities. I have courthouses finishing soon, but the REX is really dragging on my tech rate, so this golden age is key in keeping me competitive. The skipped anarchy, culture for key border pops, and great artist are important too. Speaking of foreign policy: The Dutch (Oxyphenbutazone) Oxy is having a tough time, WillLP took a city from him and I really can't tolerate the Ashes on my border. I'm chopping an army out of Cades cove and I'll build a trireme out of Fontana. I'm hoping the threat of pillaged seafood and hopeless war against an opponent more than twice his size will convince Oxy to "sell" me Ashes for 100 gold, open borders, and a resource (wine?) to demonstrate my friendship. The Russians(Sisu) I need to do something about Sisu soon - he's running a small but efficient Fin empire. In the overview, I've circled likely concentrations of developed cottages. Sisu offered me open borders again this turn. I need to motivate BXB to pushback against Sisu. The EAST I've really slacked on exploring in my race to prepare for this golden age. I'm settling right next to the fog - maybe I have another neighbour. I have triremes, so a potential trading partner? Graphs below: DEMOS: GNP MFG CROP YIELD POWER OVERVIEW
So...being awesomesauce?
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.
Yay, back! Been mucking around with EitB lately for gaming time in prep for PBEMXXX, but here's the scoop
Researched Currency, Archery, HBR and bulbed Metal Casting during the golden age. ANNOTATED OVERVIEW (8MB) FOREIGN POLICY Screwed up the whole Dutch situation after Oxy wouldn't even negotiate (accept cease fire) with me. I thought I could buy Ashes, but he's got it forted up, and my border is too vulnerable to attack for me to fall back and defend, so....... ETERNAL WAR! Good for teaching me about MP strategy, I guess. Not conducive to victory, though. Poor Look Rock got burned after I used part of the garrison to feint at Oxy's holy city - should have settled more conservatively. I bomb the Russians next turn to secure the northern forests. I had to do something about Russia else he just techs away to victory and this is the best I can come up with. We'll see how it works out. Unless someone is restraining Retep, I think he will do very well. DOMESTIC POLICY Got some pictures to post here, but maybe next turn |
