That's because nothing has changed in 2 days. I only played the turn less than 3 hours ago, and I have visitors from the US over, so I couldn't do any updates. I'm not sure when I'll next be able to do an update, but I'm going to try and get the pictures so that I can do a decently detailed one some time in the future.

The gist of it is that I moved in on Taco with about a third of the army and am keeping the rest in position to stop the lins from moving up and hitting the me after I attack Taco. Basically, I've created a killing field, and there aren't many ways through it at all, never mind within the timeframe that the Lins need to flank my army.

oh, one small update I can say: I offered peace to the Lins under the same conditions as before. He said he was considering it. Looking at hte tactical situation, I wouldn't blame him...

So, that ace in the hole that I was talking about...a settler, and sacrificing 2 chariots, and probably 2 workers, to guarantee that should Dreylin attack me, I'll always get to attack him first.

The question I need to ask is this: does Dreylin have two workers that he can move onto the forest 2NW of Tortilla this turn. If he doesn't, then every single unit that survives the attack on Taco can be repositioned to defend an attack at KK (Killing Knife), so long as he waits to get the eastern army into position.

I have 8WE that are capable of defending KK already, and 4 catapults (5 next turn). Taco should fall, as it has 5 cats to collateral with, 4 WE, 6HA and 1 chariot capable of attacking against 7 defending units. The HA though are placed to provide additional defensive or offensive power depending on the need. I even chopped the forests specifically so that for them to try and keep a defensive advantage they have to move within range of the units attacking Taco.

TBH if they don't have the workers available this turn to move onto the forest, it's probably best to sign peace...sunrise has gifted everything he has built to Dreylin, and it doesn't look to be much. Even if Broker is sitting in the wings...my forces need to be forced to sit in one place to defend a city while HA run past to attack the undefended cities, and I've just crippled their road network. If Dreylin can't attack, my forces won't be pressed and Broker will lsoe everything to the WE stacks.

So, as far as I can tell, the workers that are sitting 777 of Tortilla have built their road, and therefore can run away next turn, right?
This leads to some tactical questions: 1) If you're worried about losing your two workers, why didn't you put one of your WEs on the tile with the workers? The only unit I see that has the range to make it is Broker's single HA 6 of Hun, unless there are more HAs sitting in Hun. One WE would cover those workers from one HA for just this turn.
2) Why did you put the Chariot that is 77 of Tortilla there? Because of the forests, none of the 3 squares (7, 78, and 74 of Tortilla) could possibly threaten your worker pair, so what does the chariot sacrifice gain you? An Axis-and-Allies style dead zone, where whatever he uses to kill your chariot can be killed back, and then he counter-attacks what you kill the chariot with, etc. etc.?
3) With your spy where he is, you can see that none of the non-Broker units near Hun can threaten the workers (unless Dreylin has a bunch of workers able to build the road 96 of Hun, where you can't do anything to save your workers). And the Chariot is dead meat where he is, and something besides a 2-move HA can take it out. I guess what I'm saying is I don't quite get what purpose those chariots have.

Those workers are dead, due to a misclick on my part (alt-tabbing...). I offered to suppost a reload to Dreylin, but he said he was going to kill them with a HA and delete them, this way he didn't have the HA exposed.

Dreylin has refused the peace offer, and Broker has gifted everything, all 10 HA he had...

Dreylin didn't move forward either, and moved the settler to the hill tile 3E of Hun.

Got a terrace in KK, not a cat because of that.

TACO IS MINE!!!

Lost all 5 cats dealing collateral, and got left with a guerilla 2 LB on 3.9 health, 37% odds with a WE. So I thought, screw it, and sacrificed a Combat 1 HA.

It withdrew, LB down to 0.5 health.

Every battle there after was with odds, 63%, 67%, 70%, 83%, 96% (vulture), HA 87% (spear), 99.9%, (LB), capture Taco.

Now to play defence...

Nice attacking Krill ~alright

Good call on the HA instead of the WE. Flanking is still so broken in this game. I can't believe broker sent HA's banghead ...8 spears would of been better based on the units Kaylin/Dreylin knew we would have...shhh

In Broker's defense, spears probably wouldn't have reached you in time for this war. Why the Lins don't have an army of spears, however, is the real banghead.

Spears don't actually fair that well against cats though wink axes are useless, HA only have flanking going for them, so F2 as a promotion is basically a must. Swords are feasible, so long as the WE are catted down low enough, but WE are always the best...spears are worthless defenders once catted a few times on defence.

HA though...damn. Because I kept control of the grassland tile, the HA got taken out of the game completely. Now they are worthwhile for 2 purposes. Trying to flank at EE offensively, and flanking cats after my stack gets catted while attacking. I'm not going to attack, and 4 WE will slaughter the HA on defence, and pikes should show up in 20 turns.

So that is basically a wasted 500 hammers IMO. And sunrises gifted longbows...well, they could have done some damage...

Peace would probably have been a much wiser choice...it's not like I'm slaving every city. I'm still expanding, building the HE in AA, and shortly will get the AK in DD.

Metagaming though, I think they made a massive mistake now not making me an ally. I'd probably have been OK with them holding Taco and as fair north as the sheep site, while I expand west. Alas, once regoarrarr get cut into little tiny peaces, and the Lins lose all teching allies (I don't think ZPV will be allowed to sit in prime expansion land for dsp, and Shady will likely hold what he takes with ease, forcing regoarrarr up north) then they are going to be stuck with a massive, obselete army, and enemy that can defend easily, and two allies that have hampered themselves helping build that army.
