Just a heads-up: I'm going to be away over this weekend and for most of next week, and won't be able to do much preparation for Imperium 39 over at least the next week and a half. If anyone is interested in "sponsoring" (meaning basically just rolling and selecting the map for) the Imperium, please send me an e-mail - you can include the starting save if you'd like - and I'll try to get it posted as soon as I can.
(Seriously: If you keep your starting saves and happen to play a game on your own that turns out to be especially fun and interesting, you could just send it along to me, with or without a suggested name or variant or scoring system or anything; I like to at least occasionally have an Imperium that's just a straight-up, no-scoring, no-variant game anyway.)
Otherwise, I'll try to get something ready by the 12th of August, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do so.
Either way, if you're craving a community MoO game in the meantime, it's been a while since we last played a succession game....
(Note that we typically have played our SGs over at CFC after planning them and linking to them from here, and this might be a good way to go again if the forum attachments issue doesn't get sorted quickly.)

Just take your time, Ref! I guess most of us are caught up in a kind of summer busyness...

Hey chief, I'm finally fully recovered from that triple bypass. I'm headed off to GenCon this weekend, but if you're still bogged down with stuff next week, I'm sure I could come up with something
Just drop me a line here or in email if you want me to do that. I have some ideas...

You can also use something like dropbox (remember it's free!) to host the save, especially since it's so small.

It's great to hear you're fully recovered! Have a great time at GenCon ... and yeah, if you do come up with anything, it will be much appreciated! The game I was hoping to post on Monday had to be rejected in the end, and while I'm going to try to post one by THIS Monday, I'd love to hand off Imperium 40 (or 39 if the map I'm playtesting now doesn't work out either) to you if you'd like to sponsor it!

Good point. Fortunately, it looks like the forum attachment problem has been resolved though. In any case, the limiting factor for me has been time to create and playtest maps, not tech issues on the forum.

Well, life was very busy after GenCon, what with replacing 2/3 of my staff at work and with working on getting licensed for foster care, so... good that your map worked out. I THINK I have some saves set aside in a file somewhere that I thought would make good imperium games... but now I'm at DragonCon I'll look into it when I get back home next week, because I think they may be on the desktop (they aren't on here) I think I had one particular game I saved just as a final war started... And the tech situation in everyone's trees made that game... interesting to say the least. I should get back to you in the next 10 days.

At some point I'd probably want to host one, but realistically it may be a long time from now depending on my schedule. What I have in mind is a donut map, using the Mrrshan, with the variant that ships can only use beams (and I guess specials). The save file would likely need to be edited to make sure that the player can research all the beams (or enough that it's not too hard to play). The reasoning is that it's fundamentally about the player being restricted to just beams, in which case the Mrrshan to-hit bonus would come in handy. To make this restriction (and race) somewhat easier, having the map in a donut layout would mean that the player essentially only has two fronts to worry about, rather than having to deal with all the races at once on a conventional map.
On the other hand, I don't know if this is combining too many things; just Mrrshan on a donut map might be enough without the beam restriction. I haven't had time to play through the example donut maps yet to see how difficult they would be in practice. Also, of course, I'm not sure about how much free time I have; hopefully I'll be able to do Imperium 39 before the deadline although I now have less than two weeks for it.
