That's okay. Everything seems to be sorted out now.

So the sneak attack in the north was a false alarm: I defogged the danger tile with a Guerilla longbow, and there are no knights (or any other units) in sight; it's not even roaded. So I began reshuffling my army for zone defence of there and Calcar Ridge, focussing on the latter, since that's where LAM might strike. I am building pikes almost everywhere as HAK instructed.

Just an FYI, I have played part of the turn and captured the city (they pulled back all but 3 of their units), but I have not finished the turn. I have errands to run for the rehearsal dinner tonight, but should be back in a bit to finish the turn. If I don't finish it by 4pm today, someone else will need to. Basically, reinforce the city a little bit, but mostly move the rest of the forces NW onto the hill for advancing on WK's capital.

any suggestions for promos? I specifically captured the city with one on my 8xp LBs so th as t it would get to 10xp. I was happy that WK hadn't attacked the stack since I had forgotten to at least give some of the pikemen promos for defending against Knights. I'll remedy that and also promote at least half the units in the stack that eill be advancing.

Nothing much to report for my turn. Just a global note: Smack was the first to Liberalism last turn, and WarriorKnight (the civ facing HAK) switched to Nationhood this turn. Old Harry, I recommend putting a Sentry-promoted unit on the hill 2S of his capital if you press the offensive, and perhaps (assuming it's a two-mover) move it back-and-forth between there and the flat ground 1S of the capital to get vision across the lake, etc.

Long(ish)-term, I'm afraid of our prospects in the west with LAM controlling the other shore; HAK's core is very vulnerable to boating from naval bases there. I recommend making every effort to maintain naval supremacy in the intermediary sea - I guess that goes without saying, but better to say it so we keep it in view. smile

Old Harry, let me/us know your thoughts on the situation once you're able to take stock in the next couple days; I don't know if HAK's been able to give you any instructions via chat or what-have-you, but let's put ourselves on the same page since we'll both be subbing for some time.

Tonight I'll hopefully get a chance to bombard the city. I doubt I'll be able to get it down low enough to actually attack it myself, but I'm hoping. I've love to have my hand on the button for taking the city. Then you can strategize on how to move northward to his WK's capital.

I can see from Civstats that LAM took the city, so I no longer have Iron. And sadly, I realized I had a bunch of gold build up for supporting my troops, and LAM probably got a good chunk of that. I should have sent it all over to Korea before ending the last turn so that he wouldn't win any gold when he took it this turn. frown
So I guess now I'll just continue building Longbows & Crossbows (and Macemen, and any other units needed) for myself & Korea, while he makes the Pikemen & Knights. Right now his Horses are being traded to me. Cancel that trade so that he can make Knights. Make sure that if he does so, he has Barracks in all his cities and also starts making some Stables for the Knights.

I'm currently finishing the wonder in Mt Loon, and that city needs to regrow to max out the Great People again (I had done a 3-pop whip last turn to complete it's last Pike before I lost the Iron). I had it working 2 Scientists, 1 Engineer, & 1 Merchant....it was going to churn out my next great person which depending on if it were a Merchant could be used for a Golden Age. If a Great Spy, it could go up and check out what units WK has and give us details on what's around his capital. Anything else, you guys can decide how to use it.

That's about all I can think of at the moment. Just keep posting stuff in the thread when you are playing, since I'll still be able to review that and I'd like to be able to see the progress. Might even be able to log in a few times when in the hotels and resorts and such relaxing.

I just had a look around for a bit and I think we're going to have naval supremacy on the eastern front for a while, so we should take advantage of that. I also miss-clicked when looking around and I think we'll lose a guerrilla II longbow frown will write more when I finish the turn.

I cancelled the horse deal so you can build knights THH, do you need longbows from me? I can't build crossbows at the moment, but at some point it might be good for you to send me iron to make a few.

Happy birthday was on walls, but it's right in the middle of the empire so I switched it to a mace. I switched the Mt Loon scientists to be merchants and we're still losing 15 gpt (probably due to all those units on the RMOG hills.)

Finally this is the garrison in Paranoid - and you can see the longbows that I miss-clicked banghead


They are drafting muskets right now, so I don't think we're going to take the city frown
