Sure Old Harry, I'll end for you when I play. Note that you're actually trading me 15 gpt, so as soon as you need to break even, you can cancel those deals (warn me in case I'm doing bulb micro). I actually have a crap-ton of longbows, but I could still use more for strong MP/garrison units if you're ever short on build ideas. Noted about stables -> knight buildup after present pike builds. Though we probably shouldn't go crazy on them since our opponents can now defend with muskets - just enough for defensive purposes. Speaking of which ... what should we research after Gunpowder?

How far from Banking are we? I've skipped it in my other games here and regretted it...

Well, we have Guilds, so it's the next tech if we go for it.

Turn 116

Can I claim that that longbow mis-click was deliberate? He killed a knight in a 96% battle... What this tells us though is that RMOG have a stack of knights hanging around to try and hit our stack. I think this means moving off high ground will be a no-no.

Khalid ibn al-Walid just cut the road to Cellphone Wearer, meaning that city is safe from being hit out of the fog. I also moved the rest of the stack up to be threatening and Khalid re-joined it, but I really think attacking here would be suicidal. The city just north of THH looks like a better option for an attack just now...

What are these workers up to? Is THH planning to attack me?

Ended turn and paused for you THH. I forgot to have a look, but if we can do banking next then I could get a lot more gpt to you...

It would be beneficial to add a few more knights, along with some muskets, and more siege (mostly trebs) to the stack. Ideally you need to be able to bombard the defenses down in 1t and attack the following turn (although with enough siege you can bombard and attack the same turn). Helps mitigate flanking attacks since you aren't in the open field for as long (knights can't flank siege in a city). Agree that the other city is possibly the better target. Tbh, I think the stack definitely needs more siege.

Sorry that I haven't been too active...got my hands full playing two PBs until Nakor gets back.

Thanks for the suggestions - and I don't think you've been any less active than the rest of us here!

I think I'll just sit on the hill and pillage the rice next turn, although sitting on the hill alone is costing us 20gpt, so perhaps it's not the best idea ever. How about leaving about five longbows and crossbows on the hill while retreating everything else? That would be horrible for them to try to remove...

Depends on the promotions. Guerilla II would be worthwhile (100%-125% strength for the LBs factoring in all the bonuses). Crossbows probably not worth leaving and better used as city garrison for happiness while the stack is replaced with muskets and knights (although pikes are still good anti-knight defenders). Leaving regular C II LBs would be fine too, just not as effective (12-13.5 vs 10.2-11.7). They won't like dealing with them, that's for sure. lol

Guys, if any of you are able to play this turn of mine, it would be greatly appreciated; my stupidity has caused me to be unable to play this turn tonight, which will otherwise result in a 24-hour delay to the game. I am very sorry. frown

THHs turn

I just jumped in to play, but I couldn't resist re-assigning tiles in all the citiles around Verriers Ridge so that all of its BFC cottages are being worked and it will grow quicker. This is the place that gets us the best bang for our buck, so you want it as big as possible ASAP. This means Courcelette is working an unimproved cottage instead of a mine, but it doesn't hurt Cramped or Monquet Farm.

Queued up Knights in Walcheren Isle and Calcar Ridge and a work boat in Ironic - when is the settler for the whale/crab/fish city due?

Most of your cities are stuck for health and happy - would it be a good idea to gift some more health resources from HAKs civ?

Wasn't sure what to do with the workers so put a turn into cottaging a couple of the grass hills by Verriers.

Oh and don't feel bad about the pause thing - I should have remembered too...

Thank-you very much for playing for me, Old Harry, and thank-you very much for fixing the tiles around Verrieres Ridge. I had actually been doing a lot of similar micro over the preceding turns, but what you did is almost certainly better. Re: your settler question - am I supposed to be building one? Re: resources - yeah, I had been thinking about that, but didn't have time to decipher the trades screen. Maybe when you play your next turn, you could just gift me any spares? Re: workers - yeah, that's why they were doing that weird roading - not much else for them to do.

About previous stuff:

If the situation looks hopeless up at Paranoid, I'd retreat; don't risk the stack. I must admit I'm not sure what the purpose of leaving large numbers of units behind on a hill would be. I'd rather them in Cellphone to reduce risk of its loss - actually I kind of wish we'd just razed it, but we didn't discuss that - or in a movable reserve, or in any stack that might hit Figure Skater.

So in general, it sounds like we want to tech Banking next and consider attacking Figure Skater in the near future.
