Rant Thread!

Kjn, you also lost interest? Just when RB needs to come together, we are losing people. Pindicator seems to get energy from tough situations...

No way, I am done with getting every little thing i propose dismissed out of hand by people who don't offer anything constructive.  There's a group of people here who have done nothing but criticize and belittle ideas they don't agree with despite only casually reading the thread and I'm sick and tired of trying to work against that.  Or worse, just flat out ignored.  So that's why I've stopped contributing.  I have another rant I could do too, but it isn't appropriate yet to do so.  I will say there are a lot of parallels with the Dream Team in Greece; that's probably the nicest way to put it.

If you want to know what I would do here, I'd whip every single city as often as possible.  Forget about econ, forget about the future.  Just go ruin someone's game, just like the Germans did.

So we have given up hope to win? What can we do to salvage this game? Do we want summer to have one more trophy in his signature?

I still think as long as we keep eastern dealers, we can hope to win...

Yeah, I'd rather spend time thinking about the game and streaming than posting reports. Honestly most of the comments made are either asking for information that was already posted or saying things that are obviously incorrect. I was programming in the sandbox on the last stream. If you want to contribute meaningfully then you should either watch the streams (and absorb things from them) or log into the game. You should know roughly how far apart Eastern Dealers and Starfall are, screenshots of the area have been posted a thousand times. And yet you still ask that. I welcome all nitpicking, but I hate repetition. If you don't want to log in or watch the streams, that's fine, I'll play the game the best I can regardless.

Well, we aren't quitting and Noble's doing a pretty awesome job just still logging in and playing the game. Our civ is still quite capable of defending ourselves. The only real question is how the crap do we deal with the highly promoted cannons? We've basically been ignoring the east pretty much out of necessity.

Yep, this is what has killed enthusiasm for me slowly for a few months now. My energy for the game has been less enjoyment and more "screw this we are NOT losing this dumb game" and those fumes only last so long. I love constructive criticism and discussion - it's why I play games with teammates way more often now - I want to get better. But I don't really enjoy the vocal minority that never contributes anything other than to criticize after the fact. Given that reporting has ground to a halt, what little bit of interest I had is dwindling.

It's sad to see things come to this, but it's totally understandable. I hope I haven't been part of that nagging minority. I will say this, though: I never want to get to the point that our members feel that they can't chime in, even if they aren't the best at civ. Probably our turn players could have used someone less hands on screening out these types of comments here and there.

In general, I think ASM's quote a few posts up is kind of on point. Less talented players (including myself here) may not grasp all of the finer details all of the time, so when we get to something that we think we understand, whether rightly or wrongly, we tend to chime in at that level out of a desire to help, be part of the team, etc. I can see this being frustrating for the players managing the civ directly, particularly if the less important point was already covered in the stream. I've missed most of the last stream broadcasts because RL has sped up for me, and the lack of typed up reports that are easier to access when you have a spare moment are missing now, so it's really hard to keep up to date all the time without the full time commitment to watch the stream. I trust that everyone is doing their best, and hope that you guys steering the ship are having some fun with it for all of your effort.

This is 100% what killed this game for me. I will not invest 2-3 hours per day if I'm not having fun, and this is what made the game not fun. Honestly, by the beginning of August I was getting the impression that much of this team didn't particularly want me around any more. I decided that it would be better to step away rather than get angry and make a scene. Best of luck to those still working away at this game.

Phew.. now that some cards are on the table, what is going to happen to fix it? Or should we just go straight to the end and ask on the CFC board to end the game?

(and just for the record, I don't have the time, the expertise or, quite frankly, the drive to be one of the game's main contributors)
