Looks like the coast is clear for our settler. I'm sending a worker with it, whose job it will be to chop and mine that grass hill, so the new city has something to work when it grows to size 2. What did we want to name the city? Thunderstorms? Something involving the Copper?

GG did perform a 2-pop whip at the start of their turn, so their settler is coming right behind ours.

Nice c&d!

are you settling on the plains tile then? will there be enough culture on the water for the trade route to the capital?

Yeah, we're going for the plains tile that'll get the copper. In the test save, yes, we got instant trade routes.

Here's the micro for the next few turns.

I played the turn late last night, but didn't get the screenshots transferred over to imageshack, so I'll just write out the report now and then post pictures later today.

Turn 32:

I logged in and saw a lion showed up east of the copper. However, vision from our quechua and scout showed that there were no animals who could threaten our settler when it moved to the new city location. So I logged back out thinking I would run lots of tests to see our odds of defeating the lion with our quechua or scout. But, I never ran any tests and I was too chicken anyways to take any risks, so I just ended up piling everyone onto the tile where the city will be settled next turn. Right now we have our settler, worker, quechua and scout all hanging out right there.

At Server Problems, we finished a chop and whipped our workboat to completion. We'll put a bunch of overflow into a worker next turn, and then switch over to a quechua while we grow back to size 3.

Maga, Oxy/Suttree, Care Bears and Dinosaurs all researched techs last turn. I'll take a closer look at the demos to see if we can't make any educated guesses for what those might have been. I do remember that worst GNP was down to 1, so someone was in revolt at the time I played the turn.

We still need a name for our new city! Lurkers, do you have any suggestions on what we can blame Caledorn for next?

City 2 settled! biggrin It remains unnamed frown

The maintenance is higher than I was expecting, higher than the worldbuilder save. It should be ok, though. By saving gold one turn, we can still finish on the estimated date, T38. We're also working two resources for the first time in the game. I feel like this ended up being a slower start than I was hoping for. If there are any lurker suggestions about what I could have done differently to keep us closer to the lead teams, I'd appreciate any input. For example, I've been losing worker turns (see the picture above), but I'm really not sure what I could be doing to tighten that worker micro.

Eggheads settled their second city also, and finished a tech this turn. Orgy got a score increase that I think was a tech plus a pop growth (capital now at size 4). Suttree/Oxy 2-pop whipped what I presume to be a settler, so their city should be coming soon.

Here are the demos and whatnot:

Average power keeps going up. When I have time I'll try to sort out who is getting what.

I don't want to come up with things you guys can blame me for myself, but I guess Thunderstorm and Few Posts are among the prime candidates? wink
