[SPOILERS] Yossarian blames Caledorn

If this game doesn't get started in the next couple weeks, it's all Caldorn's fault neenerneener

I am a little worried that the early numbering and sub-forum for this Pitboss will jinx things, kinda like PB 5, but at least I'll know who to blame.

Well, obviously nothing to really discuss yet, but here are the chats Caledorn and I have had about the game so far:

Quote:YossarianLives: Maga contacted me about the new pb
Good call putting her in charge of organizing it
Caledorn: Maga is doing a splendid job at organising this, far far better than what I could hope to do. getting Plako to make the map was simply a stroke of genius that I'm very happy with
so .. do you consider yourself experienced enough that you and I can be a team?

Quote:YossarianLives: Just saw our RB thread
This is shaping up to be a pretty good game
Caledorn: I'm looking forward to this game! Lord Parkin as an opponent will be tough though. He's good. I think I stole you from under Arkipeller's nose though
Based on how we have been cooperating the past year, I'm really happy you and I can be a team though.
We need a team name. Something fitting. Let me know if you have any ideas, and I'll see if I can come up with some suggestions as well.
YossarianLives: Hmm, no idea about a name
LP in the game sure is intimidating
I hope he's not our neighbor
Now that we have a thread going, I'm excited to get the game started. I hope we don't wait a month to get things going
Caledorn: I'm thinking that we could suggest that pindicator could team up with someone initially, but be inactive in the start and let his teammate rely on lurkers in the beginning, and then he can hop in when he has more time.
YossarianLives: Yeah, that makes sense
So we have Pin, Yuufo, Classy and LP as experienced players liking for teammates
That makes six teams so far
Not bad, but we could probably use a couple more
Caledorn: I was thinking LP would be a good candidate for Arki.
YossarianLives: I agree, but I think teams need to form themselves to be most successful. If we start assigning teams, things could fall apart
Caledorn: Yep.
I saw Magno asked if LP or CH would team up with him in the thread.
I am really looking forward to this game
YossarianLives: Yeah, I'm really looking forward to the game
Who do you want to play as?
Caledorn: I like Mansa to be honest. Fin/Spi is a great combo
I think a Fin leader would be nice, as I doubt we are going for an early conquest? I'm guessing we want a civ that works well longterm, and that we will emphasise on both our good diploskills to keep us out of harms way if possible.
... As long as we don't get Parkin as our neighbour.. Lol
Afaik, he's worse than Sommerswerd when it comes to complex legalese treaties..
YossarianLives: Right, I'm thinking no NAPs with LP
Caledorn: That sounds like a very good idea to me!
YossarianLives: I like Exp a lot, too. Probably my favorite trait
Cultural is good too
Caledorn: Fin/Exp.. Is that Huayna or Pacal?
YossarianLives: I think Pacal? Not 100% sure
As long as we get two of those for traits, I'm happy
How are you at making sandboxes?
Caledorn: If we are lucky enough to get first dibs in the snake pick, I think Pacal (if he's the Fin/Exp leader) is a nobrainer..
As for civ, I am clueless..
We need to figure out the base premises for how we want to play too. We both like a plan from the outset, and we want to try to adhere to it if possible so
YossarianLives: India and Inca are the two strongest by far. After that, it doesn't make so much of a difference. I think choosing based on fast starting techs is pretty standard
YossarianLives: Oh, in case you didn't read my latest chat with Scooter, he said he'll dedlurk us!
Caledorn: I saw, and was very pleased! Even if he will probably be very busy, it's great to know he'll be somewhat part of the team by giving advice

Quote: YossarianLives: Hey there
Caledorn: Good evening :-)
YossarianLives: I was just going to post in the PB14 thread about some of my preferences, then thought I should check with my teammate first!
Caledorn: Why thank you I'm easy though
YossarianLives: I was just going to say that I would prefer the game to start sooner with fewer teams, rather than try to wait out some of the other PB's to get more participation in a couple months.
Caledorn: I think we should ban both hostile and friendly civic/religion swaps. As in ban the missions altogether
YossarianLives: Also, that I am fine with mapmaker's choice
That's fine with me. Less confusing
Caledorn: Agree on both counts
Yeah, that was my thought as well. :-)
YossarianLives: Cool, I will post that
Caledorn: Great!
YossarianLives: So we've got some competition on best team name. Any ideas?
Caledorn: I've tried to come up with something, but generally I'm too serious
How about "Team Blame Caledorn"?
That should keep you out of the loop
YossarianLives: Lol, I like that!
Especially in light of your role as host
Caledorn: Let's try that then. Lol
YossarianLives: Perfect!

Quote: YossarianLives: We got a PB14 sub-forum!
Now we just need to come up with a clever title for our thread
Caledorn: Yay
YossarianLives: I'm surprised we got it this early, tbh. Usually they don't like to make the sub-forum until the game is pretty much ready to go, at least with all the players / teams established
Caledorn: I think Maga has really charmed plako
YossarianLives: He's not an admin / mod on RB though, so that wouldn't have been through him. I think T-Hawk, Sullla, Brick and KingOfPain are the only ones who can create a new subforum
Caledorn: "YossarianLives blames Caledorn" or some variety of that theme for our thread name?
YossarianLives: That's perfect!
And we have a thread!

General advice: If you want to game to not die start it ASAP while people still have interest; do not expect many more people to want to play the future (and if 1 or two want to play they can join a team).

Also, in an NTT environment, unless you are doing anything higher than Monarch Cylindrical or Toroidal/Prince just go for FIN. FIN/EXP or FIN/CRE are "The best" but Mansa is fine. Don't ever pick Lizzie. Huanya is over rated but if he is the only IND leader then that's perfectly OK.
Current games (All): RtR: PB83

Ended games (Selection): BTS games: PB1, PB3, PBEM2, PBEM4, PBEM5B, PBEM50. RB mod games: PB5, PB15, PB27, PB37, PB42, PB46, PB71 PB80. FFH games: PBEMVII, PBEMXII. Civ 6:  PBEM22 PBEM23Games ded lurked: PB18

Welcome to the the blame party, Krill, and thanks for good advice! smile We'll be lucky if we get Willem or Pacal - but one can always hope?

Remeber to feel free to blame me for anything you want in this thread. wink

Inattentive ded-lurker checking in, although I didn't realise you'd have scooter when I offered, so if we disagree over stuff you should totally listen to him!

Are you going to ban any leaders or civs?

Welcome! biggrin

Not that I know of - but I think you'll have to ask in the main thread about that. I think all leaders and civs are available though smile

Hi Old Harry, welcome aboard! Thanks a lot for dedlurking us, your input is much appreciated. And don't worry about giving bad advice. If it happens, it was probably Caledorns fault tongue

The suggestion in the opening post was for no restrictions on leaders or civs. Here are the rest of the original setting suggestions:

Quote:Start: Ancient
Speed: Normal
Turns: Simultaneous
Difficulty level: TBD
Barbarian level: Normal
Tech trading: Off
Events: Off
Espionage: On, with hostile Civic and Religion Switching Missions banned
Goody huts: Off
Choose Religion: On
Corporations: On
Nukes: Off
Vassal States: Off
Leaders: Unrestricted (snake pick, no duplicates, nothing banned)
Full diplo
Version: BTS 3.19

So what do we still need to figure out?

Difficulty (I think Emperor is standard? I don't really care one way or another here)
Map Settings (already voted for map-maker's choice)
Bans (original suggestion was hostile switch civics and religion, we also suggested map-maker's discretion for wonders)
View starts before leader selection (I say no)
Concession method (Do we really need this?)
What else???

Let's figure these things out and then post in the organizing thread to keep things moving, as per Krill's and Q's suggestions.

Don't go with Emperor. Monarch generally works for more map setups.

Maybe mapmakers choice for difficulty makes sense, too. Are we putting to much on Plako / Seven?

I'm not concerned either way, since it's my fault whatever we end up with. tongue

More serious, I think plako/7 should get free hands. smile
