[SPOILERS] WillPlunder as Mehmed of Arabia: Noobs meet world

Basically, no news is good news in this game. Banking is in, and Spaghetti is whipping a bank for the shrine. Engineering is next. Retep's golden age is over, and we should have research visibility on him in a couple of turns. Boldly got Shwedagon Paya which I'm not too intimidated by. Suttree has Education and probably has a good shot at Lib, if Retep isn't racing him for it.

There seems to be quite a non-trivial mass of unclaimed islands on this map, if my exploration so far is any indication. I should actually check how much of the world is unclaimed through F9 - will do next turn. But at any rate, getting here first before Bandit would be good.

Bandit is massing a melee force in Belvedere. He built a castle, so defense is clearly on his mind. This route is certainly the most present threat I see right now.

I keep being torn on how soon to try attacking Kuro. On the one hand it would be nice to do it sooner, before he can mass many, if any longbows. But the question is how will the world respond? Am I viewed as a global power that must be stopped or else I'll win the game? Or a noob who will mess up in the lategame? Admittedly I have no clue what I'm doing in Civ warfare outside of tactics like building a really big stack with siege and marching it around, enough to be able to beat the AI and not much more.

If someone were to attack in the south, I could see a reactive dogpile forming, since there are 4 borders there where this could happen. Hopefully, that I don't have a clue what I want to do means the other players don't either. lol

Demos are fine. The shrine bank will boost GNP by a nice amount. A couple more golden ages will end, and I'll be able to start another long one in the not-too-distant future.

We could think about waiting to roll up Kuro till there is another 'runaway' civ which will then be dogpiled.

It's an interesting thought! The question is, will there ever be a civ which passes us? We have the most land and ultimately land can be converted to everything else important in the game. But... if nobody ever does pass us, maybe we just win, by spaceship perhaps?

The perfect scenario for us would be Molach and Bandit going to war, but they both seem pretty peaceful toward each other.

I can't really commit myself to doing much in this game other than sitting back and building up. So sit back and build up I shall. lol I do want to be really sure we could handle a full-force attack from Wetbandit in the south.

Wetbandit closed borders. Either he thought we were getting an advantage in trade routes, or maybe he didn't like me doing a full scout of his land.

This chariot is now pretty useless. I don't think I'll delete it though: when his borders pop I'm kind of curious where the teleport journey will take him!

I'm kind of intrigued by Sutt's tech route:

He took the education path into gunpowder, and doesn't have iron yet! (Would bronze muskets even work in real life?)

Brass and bronze were used from time to time, more expensive but still effective.

They were supposed to have it disabled, but no-one remembered to check settings when the game started.

I think it might have been a little more fuzzy that, given discussions like:

Teleh Wrote:Wondering what do you think about no tech trading by rule but on in settings for the diplo screen availability? I think if TT is completely off you can't deduce what techs others have without some heavy power/score/etc demo tracking, but on the other hand not knowing easily is good too imo.

I don't see a problem with having it on by setting but banned. It lets us be slightly lazier in reviewing the F4 screens I guess...

Well teleh was just wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if people thought he was correct and that led to the current situation.

Yeah. I might vote for this setup anyway though, just to make the info screens more transparent. It's not like you can sneak a tech trade through without people noticing the mutual score increase.
