Basically, no news is good news in this game. Banking is in, and Spaghetti is whipping a bank for the shrine. Engineering is next. Retep's golden age is over, and we should have research visibility on him in a couple of turns. Boldly got Shwedagon Paya which I'm not too intimidated by. Suttree has Education and probably has a good shot at Lib, if Retep isn't racing him for it.
There seems to be quite a non-trivial mass of unclaimed islands on this map, if my exploration so far is any indication. I should actually check how much of the world is unclaimed through F9 - will do next turn. But at any rate, getting here first before Bandit would be good.
Bandit is massing a melee force in Belvedere. He built a castle, so defense is clearly on his mind. This route is certainly the most present threat I see right now.
I keep being torn on how soon to try attacking Kuro. On the one hand it would be nice to do it sooner, before he can mass many, if any longbows. But the question is how will the world respond? Am I viewed as a global power that must be stopped or else I'll win the game? Or a noob who will mess up in the lategame? Admittedly I have no clue what I'm doing in Civ warfare outside of tactics like building a really big stack with siege and marching it around, enough to be able to beat the AI and not much more.
If someone were to attack in the south, I could see a reactive dogpile forming, since there are 4 borders there where this could happen. Hopefully, that I don't have a clue what I want to do means the other players don't either.
Demos are fine. The shrine bank will boost GNP by a nice amount. A couple more golden ages will end, and I'll be able to start another long one in the not-too-distant future.
