Good call with the suggestion to move south:

GG turned research on. I switched EP's to 3:1 so hopefully we can maintain tech vision while still working towards getting BowAivo's graphs. I'll wait a few more hours for input from Cal, then I'll send the proposed greeting message.

I did some very very minor modifications to the draft you made, Yossarian, and sent it off:

Quote:Bonjour Aivoturso and Bowsling,

We are very happy that our intrepid scout Moiraine has found your borders! It's nice to meet fellow CFC'ers, and hope that our future can be one of friendship and cooperation in this game. We'd like to start by offering a NAP to Turn 80, although we can go with a longer NAP if you prefer. If a NAP sounds good to you, we can also start discussing other ways that we can cooperate together.

Looking forward to your reply,

Blame Caledorn

The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Awesome, thanks Caledorn! Now we just wait for their reply.

Turn 52:

Not too much going on. We'll see if there is a southern path to the west of BowAivo. AH finishing in 2 turns is pretty huge. We'll switch off the gold and onto food as soon as that happens. What should we research next? I'm thinking Writing or Sailing as our next good economic techs. We'll get a couple more workers out quick and then build our next settler after that. I guess I didn't grab a picture, but the event log shows that someone founded Hinduism (I think) last turn. I believe that was Care Bears. These guys must have no improvements for any of their cities.

Here's the demos and some graphs. We're not doing so terrible at the moment.

Every time I see there's a new post in BowAivo's thread, I rush to our email account hoping they've answered us crazyeye

I should be taking this short break to run some more sims, since right now I'm just kinda winging it. Workers are being used really sub-optimally. But instead I think I'm going to use the weekend to update the power tab in the spreadsheet to try to figure out what's going on with that.

I think simming would be more useful than doing c&d - you'll get graphs on the guys who matter pretty quickly. But y'know you should do whatever you enjoy...

Yeah, you're right about that. Unfortunately, I didn't end up getting time to do either this weekend.

Turn 53:

We won't be able to get past BowAivo from the south. Unless we DOW them just to get through, but that doesn't seem worth the diplomatic hit. So I guess I'll move west next turn to finish unfogging the coast, then head back around to see if we can get by through the north.

We'll finish Worker #4 next turn with a chop for Server Problems. Then we'll whip Worker #5 out of Silent Neighbor next turn. Right now I'm thinking to let SP grow to size 6 (T58), then 3-pop whip our next settler to complete T60. We'll also try to get the settler for city 5 out of Silent Neighbor after it grows back up to size 4 or so. I have some ideas about the dotmap, but things will change next turn once we can see where our horses are.

Demos:

I'm not posting the culture graph, but GG just built a monument in their second city. Care Bears have reached 10 pop with 5 cities. By contrast, Ponies just hit 5 pop with 2 cities. Asterix and Eagles and Condors each finished techs this turn.

Do we have any idea about the map dimensions now? I would like to make that sandbox.

We have mail!

Quote:Hi Caledorn and Yossarian,

We are very glad to find you as our neighbours. We agree with a NAP until turn 80. We would like to assure you that we are not looking to expand aggressively in your direction. As soon as we both have some sort of idea what kind of lands lie between us we'd also like to agree on borders. We are hoping to have a long term cooperation and friendship with you and want to avoid any unnecessary tensions. Did you already have some ideas on how we could cooperate?

BTW, sorry about the delay. We're both unfortunately somewhat busy in RL at the moment. Hopefully this should let up in a week or two.

Looking forward to working with you,

Aivo & Bow

This looks really promising smile

Yeah, that looks very promising! I'm relieved to hear that the NAP is in place. We should get started on a response right away.

First of all, we should congratulate them on the city they just settled. Let's confirm that we're also not trying to settle aggressively towards them, especially with the crippling maintenance costs. We can tell them that we're ready to talk about land agreements whenever they are. Let's ask them if they want to pool our map info together. I think it's safe now to tell them that GG is to our east and they haven't answered our email, so we're keeping a very close eye on them. I think we can say that we're considering researching Writing soon, and ask if they want OB. We should ask them to help us with our scouting plans. Is there a path through the north, or do we need to wait for OB, or are they ok with us DOWing just to get by? We can also give our chat info if they want to chat for faster response times.

That's all I can think of. Anything else you want to start discussing with them?
