RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

no real shock considering he made one of the adventures using it. smile

I wonder how long some of the newer members who perhaps didn't play that adventure will take to figure it out...

Laying some ground rules now...what is and isn't acceptable etc.

What can we say to LiPing right now? Are we allowed to comment on possible moves or not? I'm tempted to say no and we should discuss with anyone anything to do with unit moves, but what are everyne elses thoughts?

Replying to game mechanics questions such as what happens if both warriors share a tile and war is declared is ok, I suppose.

Krill, are you saying that lurkers should stay away from tactics discussions in general?

I guess the prudent action is to say nothimg when in doubt.

Well, I don't actually know about tactics discussions. I mainly worry that by doing that we could unduly influence the game, but I'm not sure if anyone agrees with me there.

I'd try to avoid tactical discussions, just because it is so easy to use the info you may have about the other side. If it's the mechanics of "what odds would I get in this situation", or "can this unit really counter X?", then that's fine. If it's "which way should my army move?", then I'd consider that a no-go.

I was going to post this in LiPing's thread:

Quote:Apart from why you're so eager to stake the future of your civilization on a coinflip, no questions lolrolleye

Actually, one question: If you ally with Zulu, on what turn would you consider it "natural" to DoW someone? Sooner or later than turn 66?

I guess I'll ask the other lurkers instead.

I am following theBroker - LiPing discussion closely.
Since I experienced a similar situation, what do other lurkers think about Brokers claim that the land between the two civs is natural his?
Just interested.

Considering that the other one is aggressive Rome I wouldn't make this claim else Rome might think that all of my land is naturally his yikes.

IMO it is complete rubbish - in this game where alliances are probably going to be less crucial to development, you own the land that your unit-producers can control, as opposed to nice equally-sized rectangles. If you can negotiate to get this land without having to build the units, great, but the "natural" way is you own the land you can protect.

Broker and plako have realized they are in trouble, and are correctly trying to get as much as they can from LiPing, (even if they have to stretch the truth about the value of such a deal to LP) but their current line, "we want a long-term NAP while you have aggressive praets AND a city right next to your capital" is frankly ridiculous.

Now, what happens if they realize LiPing isn't bluffing about accepting a coinflip seems more interesting - they won't be able to play this warrior-rush brinkmanship (their only tool so far) any more.
If they offer a land concession in return for NAP, that would seem like a more reasonable offer - but it is one that is hard for Korea to accept based on their natural pride.

To be honnest, Korea is slightly in a better position, even if they have bad odd for the flip coins, as Rome is risking much more (immediat death), so Korea bargaining power should be seen as having a much heavier weight, therefore it is not completely silly to ask for a (very) long NAP.

The real question is more should Korea accept the flip coin, given that they are next to Rome if they are not offered any good deal.

Being next to aggressive Rome, I would think that the correct answer could be 'take' the risk now instead of much latter
