Upgrade the HA and build Cav in every city. The turn you move in you smash the Cav into the city and cover with everything else. I only see 4 muskets that you won't have odds on with the Cav, and everything else you'll have odds on without collateral...which means you can try to kill as much as you can before sooooo can collateral you.
I think you get odds on the maces as well, but they might not be great. I think you'd need a minimum of 15 Cav to try this though, which might not be feasible.
That's how I'd do it without revolting the city, the hard way.
The easy way is revolt the city with a spy, and with your entire army moved the turn before to 1NW of DV...you get to attack first with the cannons. Move everything up, bomb down, suicide cannons, kill with cav/rifles. Once that happens...you can carry on the war or threaten soooo enough that he becomes your vassal and you turn on Dreylin.

Are you outteching The Other Guys? Won't your window of opportunity be larger when you get to infantry? Or are you thinking that you need to keep up with Dreylin in power?

Are you saying that soooos borders withdraw when the city is in revolt?
I'm beginning to see why espionage was banned in the other pitboss game...

I'm not sure either - Krill, does a revolt move the cultural borders? If so then Ruff is golden. Otherwise Krill's plan is probably good, but I don't think there is time to make 15 cavs - Sooooo will start to upgrade muskets to rifles ASAP.

No, a spy revolt does not affect a city's borders. In that respect a spy revolt is not like revolts from culture flip or conquest (resistance). At least in every SP game I've ever played.

I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

As T-Hawk says, causing a revolt drops the defenses to 0% for a turn and stops production in the affected city. It does nothing to cultural borders.
This pic is from a few turns ago but the cultural borders remain the same - I have control over the 2 'X's.
My aim is to put my troops on the mine 1 South of Corinth and stage my battle from there - note that this will also stop Greece landing units on the hill 1 NE of DV.
Cavalry will either roll into attacking Corinth on the first turn or wait to attack after my collateral damage units have had a turn. If they attack, then my spies will revolt the city prior to attack. If they don't, then the spies won't.
I have about 5 spies in the area (with 2 or 3 more on the way). I think I might cut the roads leading to Corinth next turn in preparation of war. It is basically free to pillage improvements with mines going first, then roads. So, to cut the roads leading into Corinth, I will need 5 successful spy actions (mine, road, road, pigs, road).
I will have some rifles with 2 promotions available but the majority will only have 1. I am thinking Guerilla I & II for the rifles to provide the meanest units I can muster.

An unanswered question to my lurkers remain ... burn Corinth, occupy it or burn and replace?

Culture's not a real issue. You'll lose just about everything NE of the city (although I don't think the mines 1sq N or E), enough left to make the city productive. If you think you can hold it, I'd say keep it. If not, :fireball: it. Burn and replace is probably wasteful, since there's no chance of a revolt in Corinth (unless Sparta's borders expand twice)

reply to sooooo's email
Quote:Sooooo,
Just a short FYI - I've started to think of you in this game as Greece and me as India so that I can separate India's feelings for Greece from my attitude to you. I don't want any 'baggage' from this game hanging over to any other form of MP game that we might find ourselves in ... that is, unless I am India and you are Greece.
