Greece has rifling and has 2 rifles in Corinth (one is probably an upgrades). They have also started 2 cavalry units in cities to the North. The grassland tile to the NE of Corinth actually contains a town so it will be a multi multi spy action to cut that road. I am probably going to leave it there and only cut the mine and pigs roads.

Haven't revolted a city since beta testing so it probably has changed.

Whether to raze Corinth or not...

I would just becuase it would cripple soooo and not give him the chance to take it back.

However, it depends if you think you can hold onto it. There is nothing more frustraiting than capturing a city only to have it taken away - restoring culture...

IF you could hold the city for 1t, I would not raze it.
With the cpture, it might even be possible that YOUR cultural border (from other city) will include the tiles N of the city.

This happened to me in another pbem game I was playing. I skipped past the city, proceeded to kill the player that gave the city away. At the end of that war, I pm'd the person that had the city and requested it. They failed to give me said city so I took it the next turn in a 1 war turn.
That must be the least veiled threat I've seen in this forum lol

hmm - you are probably right - oh well. However, my post was just meant to be factual. That did happen to me, that was what I did and I did capture said city and then asked for peace.

Sooooo has finally run a counter-espionage mission against me, doubling the cost of my spy actions. It also appears that he is building a duplicate road network to Corinth (he has 3 workers in the area). I've moved my spies to the pig tile as that is a choke point.

It also appears as if he has given up on settling another city in DV - the settler that was there last turn has moved away NE. He has another city that is probably up in the NW of his lands - I saw a Toa missionary heading along a road to 'no where' last turn.

What is going on with the TOG's gold? Some of these numbers are rounded, but here is what I think is going on ...

Sooooo's is pretty obvious. He spent about 120g on upgrades on T126 (rifling came in - musket to rifle costs 80 ... don't know on Crui to Cav) and it appears that he sent some to Ath or mh (about 100g?) on T127 (I couldn't see any upgraded units).

Mh looks like he sent 160g(?) to Ath (couldn't have sent it to Sooooo) on 126 -> 127 ... probably for the city that appears to have changed hands between Ath and mh. If that is right, then Ath spent about 430g on upgrades on T127.

I sent a copy of this to Dreylin asking if he is seeing any upgrade action from Athlete.

I've been running some simulations against 'Corinth'. Attacking with Cavalry first doesn't flank the cannons in the city. I attacked with 4 Cavalry, 1 died, 1 withdrew and 2 killed their opponents. Zero flanking damage to the cannons.

Does flanking work against units in a city?
