PBEM58 Tech Thread

You may want to post a final list so all are sure what they agree to. Are you banning any leaders or civs?

We should choose settings. I am not of a strong opinion so have that in mind.

I choose no barbarians, no trading, no diplomacy and map is up to Sevenspirits.

Blitz is basically arranging a time where all of the players can be online for an hour or two to try and get a lot of quick turns in.

I'm happy with those settings proposed.

Plus No Elephants, Nukes, Blockades, Huts and active espionage. Not fussed on corps or events

Do all agree to the rules:

No elephants
No nukes
No blockades
No huts
No events
No active espionage
No barbarians
No technology trading
No diplomacy

That is all I can find. Players are:

eastway
B4ndit
CheaterHater
AutomatedTeller
Twinkletoes

We need a random order then to begin picking using snake pick.

I'll start working on a 5-player map.

Hm, looking back over the thread, I'm finding hard to reconcile the map instructions. Last I heard from B4ndit he wanted room for 3-4 cities per player, and later reiterated he thought people wanted a "tight map". Meanwhile eastway says: "I want a map with time to build a civilization and without getting choked the whole game then also not too separated that we never have to consider war." And I've seen nothing with regard to map from the other three players.

My suggestion of a compromise is a map with similar land/player ratio as PB15, which both has reasonable room to expand (~12 cities per player) but also had conflict all game, and it's toroidal so you won't be able to hide.

Thank you. I will not pick anything until the others players are all happy with settings.

I changed my mind as me and B4andit had different understandings of the word tight. I think Pitboss 15, judging by the threads I looked at, looks very close. Maybe a bit more room than that, but otherwise I am happy to trust you.

This needs input from the other players though. Thank you SevenSpirits.

I have a draft for a map if we are sticking somewhat close to PB15. It will have a little bit more distance between players but only because it adds a little bit (about 20%) of seawater. 32x32 map, toroidal. "Standard" size and Noble difficulty. I think it will be good for you guys.

This sounds very good.

I'm not picky at all with the map, as long as it's not extremely gimmicky--the map being discussed seems fine smile

By "no diplomacy" do we mean AI diplo (where we can't talk to each other) or no diplomacy at all (where no trades can occur)?
