The scout wasn't killed on flatland, but I guess it was karmic justice. What kind of morons play with barbs and huts, anyway?

If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.
Yeah, karma justice...if you moved onto the grass hill sheep there is both a chance the panther moves differently and moving onto the grass hill forest may have then been the ideal choice. You could call this hindsight, but I'd have really considered just moving onto the foprest hill, simply because keeping the unit alove to gain more vision is worth more than an additional half move and worse odds.
Also, if we are going to settle towards dtay with the first settler, settle the jungle hill to try and grab the gold IMO.

Seems like he would just settle NW of the gold and we get an even angrier neighbour for no real gain? On another note, will you be able to cover the turns until wednesday? Use the terror of your login name to dissuade our neighbours from choking us with their scouts.

Yeah I can cover until Wednesday no problem. I hope you have a good trip
I don't particularly like the jungle hill to grab the gold (although it is possible to ensure we have it, if we get a library there for the GS early on as it does have the food). I like it because there is only flat land north of it once the forest is chopped. I actually would be fine with not over extending with the first settler. Unfortunately we MUST scout the potential city sites west and south, for all we know the others are even closer thanks to the map size. Whosit: Take an extended sabbatical, think he is playing in one of the RB mod PBEMs that are going on. Not true human goody hut but I don't think he is a mid tier player at the moment. Gasium tier 5 IMO. dtay: Don't think is a smurf. Good player, worth respecting and don't want to unduly piss him off because he will put together an attack that can work. Would prefer demilitarized border which means careful city placement required (that said I still think you should always at least consider being greedy even if you then decide it isn't worth it). At least Gasium tier 4 IMO, few more games might justify tier 3. Cheater Hater: Gasium tier 6? Bad micro and strategy, don't see an improvement from PBEM58. Just try and get him pointed away from us and try and pick up as many pieces later on when he is weaker. Also, some of that tier list is just wrong, but the actual reasoning behind the tiers is decent IMO.
novice, what do you want me to do whilst you are away? any plans or micro you want me to be aware of?

My tentative plan is -complete the corn farm, work the corn while growing to size 2 on a warrior -part road 1w of corn, then farm wheat (moving straight to the wheat may be preferrable depending on what the scouts do) -at size 2, work the plains forest hill for a turn while building the warrior. Work the wheat the rest of the time. Revolt immediately when BW is in, before the wheat farm completes. (And probably redo the rest of the micro plan with copper revealed.) The warrior completes as the city grows to size 3. Start a worker. Food should be at 2/26. -chop a forest after farming the wheat. When the chop comes in, put it into a warrior while working wheat, corn, grass forest. Next turn 1-whip the worker. Start a settler. Food should be at 10/24 after this. Put two chops into the settler, completing it eot34. After the settler the capital can grow to size 4 in 5 turns on a 5-turn warrior build. (Or do something else entirely.)
