PB18Stats research shows that Mardoc/BrickAstley and ruff_hi popped techs, getting a mid-turn score increase. Probably stuff like fishing or mysticism.
Bets as to when Stonehenge falls (turn 40), how much fail-gold is created among all civs (800) and how many civ make an actual attempt to build it (12)
I think wonders are possible in this game, but you gotta really want them.
Also, I changed my civ title to the diseased empire. I'll post that in an earlier thread, in the case I need a sub for a turn. Makes it easier to figure out who it is...

Turn 3:
We have a hut to pop!! What riches shall it give us? perhaps the secret that allows us to create round things that roll. Or, perhaps, the ability to create monuments to various gods. Dare we hope for the ability to distinguish copper from the background of the world? Or the ability to build boats propelled by fabric??
We get:
48 gold. Well, it's better than a warrior to the face.
Further exploration. I'll go to the red square next. The stuff nearer the cap can be explored by a warrior near by.

Time to start heading north again. I'm doing the big loop before looking for opponents.

Turn 7 and SOMETHING HAPPENS!!
Imagine you are a scout, roaming the wilderness for hundreds of years. There aren't even dangerous animals to break up the day, just cows, fish, sheep, corn.
Then you spot a hut.
you've seen one before - it held riches beyond your imagination (and, probably, counting. I mean, no one has invented math yet, right?)
What does this hold for you???
A map! and the map has green borders on it (I guess we can draw colors before we can write)
We see people known as the portugese
They are led by the man named Molach, who is aggresive and imperialistic. (What the hell does that mean? well, son, it means that he outexpands us and is likely hard to kill with praetorians, so that kind of sucks. Whatever a praetorian is.)
Overall map of the world:

not much has been happening - my scout beat off a lion, so will be healing for the next 5 turns, meaning even less will be happening. I got my worker and started on a warrior. The worker has put a turn into a mine and will start farming the wheat next turn.
Buddhism fell this turn - I could try to guess who got it, but it really doesn't matter all that much. Obviously, one of the mysticism civs - I'd guess one that starts with agri.
Not surprising it went early - I wonder how many people tried for it and how many tried hinduism. And how many who lose on hinudism will go for judaism. It's a lot, giving up worker techs.

been a while - I found something interesting
the lands near me:
Lands north of my land
Is this just a glitch in the map or is it on purpose? yes, that's floodplain fish - that's going to be an insane tile at some point, though it requires a monument, of course.

so what's happening? I founded my second city, Plague:
I picked this site because of the forests, mainly. Choppables fuel expansion. it's also a great site with all the rivers. I could easily seeing switching my cap to here as a bureau cap and having Strep be a super-awesome GP farm.
Building a workboat to get some more commerce and speed up research a little. Then finish off the worker, another settler for the corn/gems site, another worker.
Tech path: mysticiism is next for a monument for the fish, AH for camps/horse.
4th city goes for a strat resource.

stonehenge falls.
Neither of my close neighbors got it.
I think being industrious will actually be an enormous help in this game - getting wonders will be very, very difficult with this many players and so one wonder will have a pretty large effect on a game.
I figure that right now, there are 3 or 4 civs trying to build Pyramids.

Part of the reason I haven't been updating is because... well, nothings been happening. There haven't been any real decisions to make. This turn, however, changes that.
I got BW and:
Two things of interest - I found copper and maybe I want to put a city to get that. Also, though, in the far right... barb warrior.

So, I think I'll go with the planned city #2, for 2 reasons:
1) it plants faster (whip, move to pig.forest, move to site and plant (after I road that tile) as opposed to whip, move, move, move, plant
2) it has protection right there.
3) between fish and corn, it's an awesome site for foodhammers.
well, who can count, anyway?
